I had left side done about 7 1/2 years ago and the right side done a year and some change ago. The only advice I can give you is keep up on the meds and stay ahead of the pain. I slept in a recliner for about 4 weeks after the first hip. Rented a hospital bed for the second one. Was easier to sleep with knees elevated. Don't over do your therapy. Do what they tell you to do. I went back to work after the first hip procedure. 5 months total out of work. I was a Pipefitter / Welder. After the second one I retired. One of the things to be careful of is infection. Keep an eye on your wounds, there will be a visiting nurse for a couple of weeks right after your surgery and therapist. The one down fall of the pain meds is you get stopped up, bowel wise. This will pass ( no pun intended ). I did not have the anterior method done. But one of my nieghbors did. I noticed he was getting around alot faster than I did and he was about 10 years older than me. As for getting back in the saddle and riding, I pissed off every body and got back on the scoot about 5 or 6 weeks after the 2nd hip procedure. As long as you have the strength and balance to hold the bike up, go for it.......................Good Luck......Fuzz
