Guys
I just finally after 16,000 miles added the Fullsac stage one kit with 1.75 baffles to my 2010 CVO Streetglide. Feels like I just got a new bike! Sound is perfect for me, just right. Anyway, I purchased the screens but as my bike is a 2010 once I opened up the mufflers I see that I do not need them. Drop me a line and I will send them to you, non charge just pay the shipping if that's ok. Pete

I do have a follow up. Where do you purchase the blanket? Mine after three years is pretty worn out. It also looks like is was only wrapped once from the factory.  Now it covers maybe 60% of the screen. Where can I buy the packing material?

The blanket in my new 2012 mufflers was 20 inches wide, approx. 41 inches long and just under a .25 inch thick.  This was enough material to wrap the core approx 3.5 times.

I decided to wrap the sleeve twice which required me to cut the length down to approx 24 inches. This left about 3/8 to 1/2 of an inch of space between the sleeve and the core.  I put the remaining 20x17 inch section of wrap that I cut off away in garage in case I need to re-wrap at a later date.  This section will allow me to wrap the core one and a half times.

As to where you can buy replacement wrap, several companies sell it.  The trick will be finding one that sells a blanket that is the correct size.  There was another thread on this board http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=34721.0 that contained an eBay link that has since expired.  When I clicked the expired link, ebay showed me the following seller http://www.ebay.com/sch/ndangels/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=&_trksid=p3686 selling muffler wrap rated for operating temps of up to 1200 that is of the correct size.

My Mechanic installed the cores and Sleeves. He said it sounds good,
I'll pick up Pumpkin on Monday with the new Yaffes OEM 10's black.
If there's any problems with hoses or wiring ill just go to Carlini 20's.
I hope the stock wires and hoses works :)

Rainy day yesterday, all day.

So I installed the screens on my CVO Road King.  Very quick easy job.  I had posted about the packing being bunched up all at the end.  I had removed that before I ordered the screens.  Pipe was just to raspy metallic sounding for me.

Any rate screens were simple to install.  Barely took enough time for a beer.  Just left the mufflers on the bike, side the cores out.  Cut the packing to go 1.33 times around the screen.  Compressed the screen some, while wrapping with packing.  Slide it in the can, then put baffle back in.

Sounds much better, raspy metallic sound gone.

Now to repeat the process for the other muffler cans for the wires bike.

Every now and then a product does what it is advertised to do; Fullsac is one of them, everything I have purchased from Fullsac, in the last few years, has done everything it should; the screens are great. I know it is a simple concept but no one else thought of it. Thanks to Steve for another great product.

So the mufflers need to come off the bike to do this?

No they don't-------------

I have done this many times for many friends of mine both on stock baffles and fullsac baffles. Read on:

I have a 1/4" length of rod with a small hook at the end, actually both ends , but one is only about 1/2" , the other end is about 1.5".
On stock mufflers  I grind out the welds, take a blunt end punch(big) and hammer and knock the core in about 1/16-1/8 " , then gently grind out the rest of the slag, buff with emory cloth all the way around the muffler end til its smooth as a babys butt, then insert the small hook end of the rod into the core till it hooks in one of the holes and slowly tap the other end of the rod with a hammer til the big end of the core is out of the muffler and then pull it on out. No problem. The newer stock baffles have an "inner core " with 3/8 holes in them for about 8" or so up in the core so its easy to drop the hook end of the rod into one of them.

With fullsac baffles the rod will still hook into one of the ridges on the inside of the core so you can repeat as above WITHOUT REMOVING THE MUFFLERS. Don't get in a hurry and don't try to beat them out in 3 or 4 blows, just keep tapping on the long end of rod and the big end of the baffle will come right on out.

Again , I have done this several times on my own bike both with the stock baffles the first time and with Steves many times since and have installed several sets for friends of mine.

You can also slip a piece of pipe over the 1/4" rod before you make the second bend in it and you have a homemade jerk hammer.

The fiberglas packing can be bought at any Marine Supply Store, I bought new the last time @ the Marine Surplus store for $3.50 a yard which was the most expensive cross-weave they had. A simple pair of sissors will cut it to what ever size you want. The surplus guy recommended Kevlar weave for Motorcycle and packable "glass-packs" for hot-rods but he was out.
