I bought the bags and docking hardware last night for a total of $759 from Kutter Harley online.

I have the black break out panniers and frankly they look crap! But sadly a necessary evil if one must carry luggage. This bike should be kept as naked as possible in my opinion (humble ).

I saw my first CVO Breakout (gorgeous red with that scuffed metal tank and fender) at Thunder Creek HD in Chattanooga, TN this afternoon and I have to say that is it one of the best looking factory rides I've ever seen.

I rank my all time fave five for looks as follows;

2002 FXDWG3 "Switchblade"
2008 FXDSE2
1946 Indian Chief
1960 XLCH
2013 FXSBSE "Breakout"

My ride is a 2012 FLHXSE3 and I love that bike.  It would make that list someplace in the top 15 or so, but I need a bagger for my ride, so it's the best I can get for those purposes.  Obviously, any of us can ride whatever motorcycle we choose.  We're spending way up in the top 1% of all available motorcycles and it just boils down to what you want/need in your life.

My question is - and don't take this badly because it isn't a criticism in any way - Why wouldn't you buy a bagger if you wanted or needed a bagger?  I mean, that hot rod you bought is drop dead gorgeous and anything you hang off it makes it look worse IMO.  I wouldn't do that anymore than I'd think about stripping the bags and fairing off my SESG and pretending it's a power cruiser.

Opinions, of course, vary, but I've just thought about this for a while and I saw that bike today and saw your post tonight and decided to pose the question.

In any event, enjoy that bike.  It sure is purty.

PG for me it is simple. I dont want a bagger but I do like long rides. I can not think of anything worse than doing a long ride with music blaring, heated seats, misses talking on the intercom and no wind in my face. For me I enjoy the solitude of the only noise being my bike and wind in my face. But also enjoy a fresh change of clothes and some clean undies, so I put on the bags only when needed.

Over the past 2 years I've done 35000kms on my FXDF and I dont plan on slowing down now I have a CVO Breakout. Thats why I'm going with the detachable docking kit for my bags. Put them on when need and off when you dont. Best of both worlds.

Preach it Brett! Couldn't have put it better. My ride before the Break Out was (still is as I'm battling to get my head around selling it ) an FXDWG 99 and kept very naked for same reasons. I have the detachable panniers fitted to the Break Out
which is the compromise I've made for the longer rides when kit is needed but they will definitely come off at destination! PR your comments also very valid and guess that what makes us all different yet part of the same family.

I have a small sissy bar bag for mine, for even longer trips I have the large bag that fits over the sissy bar-can stuff a weeks worth of stuff in that.

keeping the breakout naked.  if i need storage for long trips, uncertain weather or overnighters i take the SG.  i'm thankful and fortunate to be able to have a choice.  but...if i didn't...i'd have no problem with bags and docking hardware...better than not going on those long rides at all.

I had a street glide great bike but wanted to get back out in the open. The Beakout has put the fun back into riding for me. I don't Agee you need a bagger to do long tours I've been all over Europe on a Fatboy and its just personal but for me it was more fun. Each to their own

Hi Dell, I see you have a Trim Ring on the head lamp. Can you tell me what number the Trim Ring has? Thank you  :)
