storage for small items while riding
« on: April 11, 2013, 09:18:57 PM »

I bought a windshield bag and attached it and it's fine for storing keys, cigs, sunpass etc but it does kinda limit my vision especially going uphill (not too many of those in Florida but still ...) and immediately in front of me at slow speeds like on gravel/uneven surfaces where I want to look through the windshield and down.
The lowers have speakers  so where does everybody else store things you want to reach for while you're riding but don't want stuffed pockets? Anybody got a saddlebag guard bag and is it easy to reach at stop signals? Sorry to ask a dumb question.

Your windshield is too high if you, but rarely, look through it ...Period.  If the windshield pouches are blocking your vision...well, I don't know what to say, since those are so low already.

Lauren I have fought this problem since I bought my SG.  I'm on my 3rd windshield bag.  I hate the looks of them, I hate the bugs that accumulate between the back of the bag and the windshield and I hate the way they block my view.   :-\. Everytime I pull it off and go back to my pockets I lose everything.  Chap stick always comes up missing.   :'(. It's one of those "can't live with it and can't live without it."  I am forever on the search for a bag that works.., if and when I discover the solution I will share it with you.   :P

I added rear saddlebag guards (49282-09B):

Then I added the (left and right) saddlebag guard bags (90939-97 and 90955-97):
http://tinyurl.com/cwa4j3v
I pushed the cover into the bag, and while riding, I can reach down and grab a water bottle, or gloves.
Here's a (poor) cell phone picture...

ugh looks like I'll have to live with it too. Might also have to go with a saddlebag bag. I've got long legs for my 5'5" height but the body part is short!! At some point I'll change my seat but that can't change my riding position cos I can flat foot the bike perfectly now. I have one of those magnetic bags that hold the garage clicker but I hate the look of it on my tank, I also ride with a fanny pack that is so stuffed with crap already.

I like the Kuryakyn 3 ;pouch traditional. Is it as clean as no pouch? No, but it follows the windshield and doesn't block my view. I also don't seem to have an issue with bugs getting behind it. I love it.... I bought another just in case they stopped making them so I have a spare when the one I am using is worn out.

Hey Scuba, Do you think this bag will work for me with my dash pad on my fairing?

Your picture doesn't look like the 3 bag pouch that your link takes me to.   :nixweiss:

I have one of those and the other one with the water bottle in it. They do come in handy.  :2vrolijk_21:
