GREAT!!!  I highly recommend it!  Stress level is MUCH better. I sleep all night every night and get up in the morning when I want to.  :pineapple: I don't care if I ever hear another siren!  :2vrolijk_21:

I pulled the plug a little while back and went to work in the private sector.  Love being home every night, wife misses her quiet nights when I was on duty though.  :)  Took awhile to adjust to hearing a buzzer and not jumping into bunker gear.
Good career glad I did it but got out while my back was still good.  I was a fire medic and carrying all those fatties takes it toll on the body.   :P

lol   Yep, we could talk all day about what we do (did) and most people would be amazed, especially at the abuse of the system. Unfortunately my back didn't fair so well but OK as long as I am careful. I can still ride for the time being so I'm happy about that. Good Luck to you my friend! Stay in the house!

22 years as a volunteer and I had not heard of firefighters day before today!

Thank you for the recognition and being a volunteer firefighter has had many rewards and downfalls.

I don't know what the difference in a municipal and a township is...

Two different things that have nothing to do with what a department calls itself, at least in Jersey.

Municipality is what the governing body is for the most part.

In New Jersey, all municipalities are either a Township or City. The common difference, although not set in stone, between city and township is the population and laws.

Township - under 100K population, and follow their own laws, regs and codes
City - over 100K population and most fall under Civil Service laws. Civil service sets the ground rules for "civil service", such as police an fire.

The 2 links you posted, from the same website sure contradict themselves.
