BMW R1200RT
« on: May 29, 2013, 12:30:37 PM »

New bike in the stable for the little woman, an R1200RT. We flew into Las Vegas and picked up the only low in the country in her color with all the bells and whistles, and rode it home this past weekend. Being the factory low version she can flat foot the bike and at a little over 500lbs. dry it is considerably lighter than her SG. Overall this is a very nice bike. It flicks through the twisties with ease and has great breaking power. The powerband and dry clutch take a while to get used to, but once you're in the zone it's a lot of fun. I was hoping to wait until next years release of the water cooled/oil clutch but she was worried the impending frame change would raise the height. It looks to be a great tourer and she will most likely be on it at the Santa Fe GTG.

Santa Fe will be an excellent place for all of us to test ride it, too.

You don't need no stinkin' race tuner, either.  Although an Akrapovic slip-on muffler would be nice (The most recent addition to the famous German line is known for its sporty elegance and technical refinement).  And who doesn't need a little technical refinement now and again for only $674.95.

Nice purchase, Mel!!

Melanie, congrats on the new Bimmer. Tell Trapperdog that riding gear like clothes, boots, packs and such as a helluva lot cheaper than all that HD Chrome!

Look forward to seeing you and the new bike in Santa Fe.

Isn't there a lot of custom leather in the Santa Fe area, if Mel would like to go shopping for some nice color coordinated outfits to match here new bike ?

Oh Yea.. custom leather shops, art shops, jewelry, indian bead work, silver, pottery.
They have both a Beamer and HD shop in SF too.

.. and then you can get really fancy stuff up in Taos .. maybe some antler horns to strap across the front fairing  :D

Jimmy, can you write my obituary when needed? My technical refinement will require a plastic surgeon and a Shrink  ;D
Thanks for the nice comments, I'm sure she will post back.
Melanie already has enough leather to clothe one of Iselbulls herds. Let's just keep here away from any attire that compliments the color of her bike.......or boots, or pants, or purse.................
