Unbelievable! The bike performed great for the first 600 miles of the 750 mile trek to ATL. Somewhere on I-24 in Tennessee the bike started to miss and stumble as if an injector had fouled. I radioed my crew to advise them i was having trouble and was pulling over. Before I could do so, the bike went into limp mode again with no throttle response. WTF? Thank God it was early a.m. with light traffic and before we hit the mountains. Anyway, I let the bike cool down for about 10 minutes before attempting to restart it. It turned right over and revved up just fine, although the check engine light came on. Despite the warning, we cautiously headed out because, frankly, we were far away from anything I recognized and I felt bad for holding up five other riders. The bike occasionally stumbled but we eventually made it to Atlanta on Sunday. I rode the bike to the nearest HD dealer Monday morning. Rather than receiving a friendly welcome to an out of town rider with a problem, the service adviser at this unnamed dealer shows utter indifference to my situation. I explained the bike's recent service history and suggested that he speak to the service manager at the dealer in Milwaukee. It's obvious he was not happy that he has to deal with a problem bike that somebody else worked on. I called the Milwaukee dealer to let them know what happened and they immediately call the Atlanta dealer and I'm told they pretty much get blown off. Monday passes without a call. Today I called HD customer service to complain about the ATL dealer's attitude and, more importantly, the concern I have about the reliability of my bike which could affect my personal well being. The customer service rep just listened and told me she would investigate and either the dealer or she would give me a call with an update. That was 11a.m. this morning. Never received a call from either today. Maybe tomorrow...or the next day. I don't want to open a discussion on the sub-par dealers out there, but the actions of this particular service adviser was totally inappropriate. I should have left right then and there and gone elsewhere and will consider going that route if no action is taken tomorrow. Can any of you ATL folks suggest a competent service department? I will remain strong through all of this, but right now I'm pretty disheartened. For all the risks we take every time we ride, a reliable bike should be the least of our worries. Thanks for your continued support. PJ
