Brian's Plaque for Maggie Valley
« on: October 16, 2006, 11:11:17 AM »

As Don (twolane) mentioned at the gathering Saturday evening, we had intended to give Brian (103tHunDer) a plaque showing our appreciation for his incredible efforts in putting together one of the most memorable experiences of my lifetime. Unfortunately, the plaque did not arrive in time to be presented to him personally, so this posted photo will have to do for now. The history behind this plaque, for those of you who did not attend, or missed Don's eloquent speech, is that Don and I "tricked" Brian into sending us his favorite high res image of him riding The Dragon so we could use it for this plaque.  The background for the image is a photo I took in the area a few years ago at sunset from Clingman's Dome, the highest peak in both Tennessee and The Great Smokey Mountain National Park at 6643 feet, and looks out on all of the mountains and roads we travelled.   Personally, I think the plaque is awesome, and is a small token of how I personally feel about what this man orchestrated for each and every one who attended.  The people on this site is what makes it the best place to be, and that was proven this past week in Maggie Valley.

Brian, the real thing will be on it's way to you shortly, buddy!!!

I know I am not the only one who would like to tell you how much fun I had, and none of it would have been possible without your hard work and dedication to both this forum and the great people who make it what it is.  Your selfless efforts and hard work on our behalf is what made this event not just a gathering of riders, but a gathering of brothers and sisters.  This is just a small way of saying "Thank You" from all of us!! TC,

That's a great job.  I am sure Brian will really enjoy it and the kudos from all.

Just wish I could have been there as do many others that didn't make it.

Terry, that looks gorgeous, buddy!  Man, I can't wait to get that and either put it out in the garage near where I park the bike, or on my wall at work.  Thanks so much for doing that for me!  I certainly do appreciate it!

It's makes me feel really good to read the comments from those who've posted photos and hear what a great time everyone had.  I also really enjoyed talking to those who walked up to me during the event to tell me how much fun they were having and thank me for pulling it together.  I absolutely love that area of the country and love showing people around it.  I can't think of a better group of people to spend a week with than the group we had.  It was a blast for me, too!

Thanks for all the kind words, the t-shirts (will look through all those with my wife later today!), the 50/50 $$$s, and the plaque.  Also, I ate a lot of free food on several of the days.  You guys really know how to spoil a guy and make him feel appreciated!!!

That's just beautiful Terry.  Y'know, though, Brian did get all those t-shirts.  The new piece is so darn nice maybe you should just keep it?  He might not notice.....   [smiley=nixweiss.gif] ?

Ok, ok, Brian should get it.  He certainly deserved it.  But that is a stunning piece of work.

Brian,
It's a shame my schedule conflicted with MV this year, as obviously I missed a Great time!  That said, I too, commend you for your efforts, for what was probably the biggest gathering of CVO's, on the Planet.  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] The Picture is Great, too!  That displays what us "Hillbillies", call "Skint' Back!"  ;) Later--HUBBARD

Terry that is awesome. [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Brian,
Along w/all the rest I truly appreciate what you did to pull this off. Even though I wasn't able to stay for the entire event the time I had was outstanding. You did a fantastic job in selecting the rides/restaurants etc., but for me the most important thing was meeting people from this site. We all share a passion for riding, and spending money on our scooters (some more then others :-[), but just to put faces w/screen names for me was the topping on the cake. I now feel like I've got so many friends that I could call/contact and say "heh, I'm going to be in your city today/tonight you want to get together and have a beer/burger and shoot the chit tonight". Thanks for providing the opportunity for me to have so many friends. [smiley=2vrolijk_09.gif] [smiley=bigok.gif] [smiley=2vrolijk_20.gif]

You've said a mouthful there Gary.  It was so fantastic!  I got such a kick out of people coming up to me to introduce themselves, or asking someone's handle and going - Ohhhhhh so that's who you are - and getting to actually ride with everyone - or at least as many as everyone one could when so many were in attendance. I am so happy we rode with many groups, it helped to get to know the most amount of people.  And folks would come up to me and ask to have some of the infamous folks pointed out to them so they could go say Hi.  I am sure at leat 50 people asked me who Otis was, or 103, twolane, naitram, Jock, and Gary, the fired00d was sorely missed the last couple of days.  Good thing you were able to be there for the part you were there for, but we'd of loved it to be longer.

We have all been very blessed to have the time we had together.   ;)

I want to remind everyone that   ----  2007 - Nelson, BC.    [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Very nice, Terry!

Brian, I've shared with you before, that I think you've done an outstanding job with MV......your baby since it's inception.  Looks like you out did yourself this year.  I think Hubbard is right, the largest gathering of CVO Owners in the world.

You have a PM.

Just a side note here:  This plaque was on behalf of everyone who attended and not just a personal gift from me and/or Don...that was always the original intent, so everyone can take credit for this show of appreciation in addition to all of the great t-shirts everybody brought for Brian!!
