2012 110
« on: July 18, 2013, 08:01:46 PM »

I have a 2012 110 with 37,000 miles. The weather has been in the 90's and going down the road at 2100 rpm 60 MPH in 6th gear every once in a while I get a skip in the motor. I have also had a few times when she is cold that it took two times to start. Any thoughts?

Have you checked for any codes?

Possibly a plug or plug wire, but I'd check for codes first...   :2vrolijk_21:

If that was a carbed machine, I'd be looking to bump up the pilot jet, for starters.

I never ride mine below 3,000 rpm---ever (maybe 1st, 2nd gear taking off,) typically these bikes run better with a "fire built up under them," none of the CVO'S I have owned liked to be lugged, maybe try that approach. I have ridden with other CVO owners and most of them don't run @ low RPM'S either---just a thought!

When I bought my FLHTCUSE8 the dealership told me to never run it below 2500 while under a load.  I use 6th gear at about 70 and depending on the terrain that is pushing it.

I'll change the plugs and run up the RPM. The only thing is that this never was happening until the past week.

See my post Some Trouble on the Road. This is exactly what mine did at first. Turned out to be failed lifter.

Could not find your post. Will the codes be there even if the check engine light never came on?

Muddypaws I hope this is not your problem but I am very suspicious from your description that it may well be.  BTW mine never threw any DTCs.  If had gotten bad enough most likely it would throw a code of no combustion in the affected cylinder.

I hesitate to say it but at 37K it might be time to take a peek, if the 110's history with lifter issues is any guide.. I know mine went bad at far fewer miles than 37K

LAST WARNING!! CHANGE LIFTERS IMEDIETLY!! I own 2011 SEUC with all as Dealer says "NORMAL" pinging, rattling noises until suddenly after 25k lifter fall apart causing big mess in cam chest.

I would also look at fuel pressure.  A fuel filter is cheap and easy fix.
