Custom Dynamics LED Turn Signals
« on: July 27, 2013, 12:16:22 AM »

'Just installed the Custom Dynamics LED front turn signals - white running lights, amber turn- on the '09 SERG today. The turn signals and load equalizer were both plug n play, work great!! The white LEDs are a close match to the DayMakers.
Love 'em!!!

I was looking at those last week on another bike. They look to be very bright during the day and make you more visible.

I was looking at the web site and noticed that the Ringz driving lights/ turn signal models were not DOT Aproved. Bummer!

Not saying I would not put them on my bike. Just commenting on their not being DOT approved. I just wonder why as it seams most of their other lights are.

It may just be a "regulatory" issue...or the company that makes them has not had them "certified" yet......but honestly do you really think you would ever get called on this?  I will ask my brother (LEO) at some point...but I'd just laugh at a cop if they wrote me for something like that.  Having said that here is a pic with them on

Pick with them OFF  (I have the GADS air deflectors....which are the "smoke" plastic pieces under the signals)

Further Reading....the "DYNAMIC CLUSTERS" are not DOT...it appears the DYNAMIC RINGZ (WHICH IS WHAT THESE LEDS ARE) may be DOT Compliant since they only say "NOT DOT" on things that are expressly NOT certified...this was under the RINGZ description:

FMCSA Standard No 108 #5 States " If optically combined with a turn signal lamp, is automatically deactivated as a DRL when the turn signal lamp or hazard warning lamp is activated, and automatically reactivated as a DRL when the turn signal lamp or hazard warning lamp is deactivated."

Either way...I'd say the "Not DOT" disclosure" on their other products represent a CYA......if anyone has any real world experience with issues of NON-DOT lights (besides using red or something that is WAY TOO BRIGHT, etc....) being an issue, I'd be interested in hearing how the officer/inspector would even know or be able to substantiate the claims.

Just curious.

OK folks I am not saying I would not put then on and I am not saying I would get pulled over for them. I was just curious to see that they are not DOT approved.  :nixweiss:

I like them and will probable buy them. :)
