A guy who I worked with years ago burned his mp3 to a DVD and got lots more songs on one disk. I tried it with no luck it didn't play at all.
Anyone know how to do this?
First off, as you know, your bike CD player will not read your DVD.
Both CD and DVD use tracks similar to a record, but read from inside diameter to outside rather than ouside to inside as a record does. But that's not why, just rambling here a bit.
The CD has wider tracks and uses a wider based laser to read them. A DVD has many more tracks and are a lot narrower, hence the higher capacity than a CD. The DVD laser head is a finer narrower laser and it reads without any issues the DVD's. From my very limp grey cells, I believe one uses a red laser and the other uses a blue laser. Can't remember which is which though, it really doesn't matter for this question though.
Most all DVD players are dual compatible, but automotive CD players are just that, CD players. There are "some" very new auto head units that can read DVD's, but with all the new screen technology they are limited to play while standing still only. There can be no movie per say playing on your dash while driving. I'm not sure about some high end aftermarket head units, they may play DVD's as well.
Sorry you're not going to be able to play a DVD burned with music on your CD in your bike.
Hope I didn't ramble too much...
