They are wonderful if you want to ride but have some kind of issue that prevents you from dealing with 2 wheels.  I have riden my wifes TriG and the only 2 main differences to me are: 1. you dont lean with the curves 2. until you get use to it you might feel like you need a seat belt during the turns  ;D

cyril. If you want info on the Tri-Glide go to www.triketalk.com and check out the HD trike section, lots of good info that may answer all your questions.

I've owned one for over a year and recently sold it for our new 2013 CVO Ultra.

We sold our 2010 Ultra Classic when I thought my legs were too weak to hold us up and bought the Tri Glide as we love to ride/travel. Found out a few months ago that my prescriptions were making my legs weak and hurt all the time. Made me mad as you know what, but it's my fault for trusting the Doc's.

Anyway, the Tri Glide rides like a four wheeler to me. you don't lean much into corners and have to slow a little in them. Rode the Dragon's Tail several times on ours, fun still, but not like a bike. It's obviously more stable since you don't have to hold it upright. All the main controls and bells and whistles are the same. Has a trunk instead of saddle bags.

As has been said. If your situation dictates it, the Tri Glide is a way to go if you like to ride and travel. As for me, once I learned about my condition and dumped the bad meds, we both wanted to go back to the bike and traded for the CVO.

I did see some of the new styles from Motor Trike at Bike, Blues and BBQ and they looked sharp. If it's an option, you can have your bike made into a Trike with one of their kits cheaper than a new Tri Glide. I know I'll go that route next time because I liked the Motor Trike kit appearance and features.

If you want more info, ding me anytime, be glad to answer any question on the trike.

My wife had a trike for awhile, and what everyone else is saying I also found to be the case.  The one thing nobody mentioned was the decrease in gas milage (only around 25mpg).  At least this is what we were getting.  I personally liked the stability of the trike when having a passenger.

Yep, we got about 25 on a good day also.

There are some very informative comments about trikes in Jerry/MD's thread:  Time To Say Goodbye My Fellow FLTRUSE Owners....  I've only tested one HD trike but what gadgetz said is spot on.   Now, if you are worried about gas mileage, you could try something like this:

I have ridden a few trikes and don't really care for them. They just don't feel right. Can't get used to
getting bumped around every time a rear wheel hits a pot hole.

When it comes time to hang up the 2 wheelers, I will get a wrangler Jeep and throw away the doors
and top and I can take 3 other people with me! :bananarock:

As Greg mentioned, I recently traded my CVO for a 2014 Tri Glide. For me the decision revolved around comfort for my wife and the added stability...and peace of mind for me. Most of my riding these days is `two up'. I'm not the biggest and most muscular guy in the word...and handling a 950+ pound motorcycle with my wife on-board just became tooooo stressful. A 1700 mile trip with her and a fully loaded bike back in August also pushed me to this decision. I loved my CVO Road Glide Ultra, but the type of riding I do these days just made moving to a trike a no-brainer.

As far as handling I will tell ya it is a whole different ballgame. No leaning. Turns require you to shift your body slightly into the turn and you steer via pushing/pulling on the handlebars. Sounds easy, don't it? Well, it takes some time to adjust. Now, manuevering around parking lots, gas stations, etc with a passenger...that`s where the trike REALLY shines. Plus I won't be freaking out when I see a gravel parking lot or roadside pull-off. Those issues from my 2 wheeler days I will not miss. As far as gas mileage, I have averaged 36 mpg. Just a little bit better than my Honda Civic, but a whole lot more fun.

As Rooster said, triketalk is a great forum to get info. Slide over there and you will see I have gotten some nice helpful responses to questions. I use the same handle there too (Jerry/MD). Great folks there, just like here on the cvoharley forum.

So far, my wife is very happy with our new toy. And you know what they say, if momma`s happy, everybody is happy. Just my limited but positive experience so far on a Tri Glide. Good Luck with whatever decision you make.

Regards,
Jerry

Jerry, you hit the nail on the head for me as well.  Knee issues as recent as surgery last Wednesday pushed me over the top.  But, for me I just could not give up my Eagle so as we speak the Trike kit is being painted by Hannigan Motorsports in Kentucky to match the rest of the bike and the installer Trike My Bike out of Windsor Ontario will be travelling down to pick up and then install the kit.

When it's all put back together pics are definitely in order.  Should look awesome!

I have a friend who had a knee operation and then search out and used the same company in Windsor... He absolutely loves his new trike.
