Thanks TC. I havent been able to take it on a decent ride yet as my wife is still healing (doing real well) from her neck surgery. I am going on a Bikes on Parade ride from Ocala to and thru Gainesville so I should get some all around riding; interstate, city, stop and go etc. I'll let ya know how it goes heat wise and all when I get back.

Any temp readings yet. It was really warm here in St Pete yesterday(82) Did a poker run and the Jester was really warm. I wonder what MoCo feels is too much heat?

Woop,
When I got to Gville (about 40 miles via Interstate 75 two up she did seem a bit hot. Got off after sitting at idle for 10-12 minutes in line and shot the temp gauge: 396 rear, 296 front. I only have 850 ish miles on her though. I was getting what I thought was a spark knock from the front cylinder in 5th gear at about 2,000 RPM's. I hooked my laptop to the SERT after work today and took a
recorded ride (
gotta love that SERT). Ran thru the gears held her at 50 mph, 5th gear, 2,000 rpm and rattle, rattle, rattle. Went on down the road ran her up goooood. Came back saved the data and replayed it. Checked the Engine speed (rpm), knock retarder front, knock retarder rear, and vehicle speed (
gotta lovr that SERT). Only had as much as 2 degrees on the front only (knock retard) and nothing on the rear and it was not at the 50 mph, 2,000 rpm range. High speed was 101 at 5250 RPM. Determined that "spark knock" must be the infamous 5th gear tranny noise all are referring to. Drop down a gear, kick the RPM's up a few hundred and it goes away. Guess I just need to adjust my driving style a little to get used to the 6 speed is all. I will also use a different oil on my 3,500 mile service as dealer is to do the 1,000 mile service as part of the prep fee I paid for when purchasing the bike. I'll change it again 2500 after that with the oils mentioned in the SYNTHETIC OIL post. I really like this bike and this 84 SERT MAP, I hope I can get control of this heat issue by next summer!!
Did I mention I really like the SERT?
