FHD Performance 120X Faribault HD MN, just wondering about this
« on: October 02, 2013, 01:18:52 PM »

I was up in Bloomington MN a few weeks ago and on the way back to St. Louis we stopped at Faribault HD in Faribault MN.

On their floor they had a MOCO 120R and to the side of that they have this other motor, the 120X.  It was a very nice looking motor with diamond cut heads and jugs in black.

I didn't get pricing, but I did pick up one of their little handouts with the motor specs.  I got curious about what you guys think about the mating of parts.  They claim just over 140 rwhp and over 150#/ft torque.

Here are the parts that make up the 1962cc 120X

HURRICAN HEADS
BAISLEY ROLLER ROCKERS
DARK HORSE WELDED CRANK
LEFT SIDE TIMKEN BEARING
TMAN 662-1 CAMS
64mm THROTTLE BODY
SE CAM SUPPORT PLATE
HIGH VOLUME OIL PUMP
20 AXTELL PISTON KIT (The 20 has an * or something like that after it, 20*)
AMS RACE LIFTERS
6.7 GRAM INJECTORS
DIAMOND CUT

So from that list do you guys with the knowledge of these type of parts feel this might be an alternative?  While talking to one of the parts people, not the performance guys, they indicated that this motor is over $10k.

Just thought I'd throw this out for you all to look at.

Thanks.

This is what I pulled off of their website.  It said 120X under the graph but says 120R and 660sm on the sheet?  These guys have a very happy dyno.

Me thinks that might NOT be as happy as you may think.

The guy I talked to said just over 140 hp and just under 150 torque.  Maybe there is a 120X chart, or he's wishful.  But I would imagine from what he said after doing a few of these that his numbers are probably what he got.

I didn't think about the diamond cut jugs and head adding a lot of money, but I don't know what that runs to begin with.

That std number might be a couple over the sae, :nixweiss: but in spite of that, it looks like it would be a darn snappy set up, with plenty of juice throughout the entire rpm range.

What do you fine wrong with this John???? All I see is a larger injector than needed, other than that it looks like the best from the best.

Dan the * after the piston is a sign for a 20 degree angle on the piston that matches a 20 degree angle combustion chamber that makes up the squish.......this helps combustion in the higher rpm's.
Harley used to have a 103 plus head and piston with this set up....the combo made great power....too bad they quit making them but then again it's the MoCo
