Painted Frames
« on: October 15, 2013, 07:05:06 PM »

I know that most of the previous year CVO's used to have color matched painted frames. Today's CVO's seem to have just the basic black frames. Am I correct with this? And if so, why? Is it a new trend or just a money saver?

I believe the MoCo stopped color matching the frames when they started producing CVOs on the assembly line.  It's also cheaper and more convenient for HD to use black frames.

Yep, I saw a 2008 FLHRSE4 anniversary and the frame was painted in the full 3or 4 color anni scheme.
Recall thinking that it was the best looking RK I'd ever seen.

Saw them being built in the York factory back in '08. Always thought the 105th anniversary had sharp looking colors. Finally able to get my FLHTCUSE3 last year!

A few that didn't have painted frames to begin with ran through appropriately colored puddles and got them later.  PJ's had it done too.

That is nice! I really think that a painted frame is an extra detail that makes the CVO's more exclusive.
