Project "rushed more" is becoming a bit of an embarrassment for the MOCO. While the water cooled V-Rod with a hydraulic clutch doesn't puke its coolant and doesn't have clutch problems.
Without question; the coolant leak along with this clutch issue would be more than just embarrassing, it was also expensive for the MOCO. With that said; they are taking care of the problems, neither issue was really a design flaw. My 14 had the coolant leak, it was fixed with no problems since. This hydraulic clutch problem will be the same. I have owned 11 new Harley's in my life and can say without hesitation that the 2014 touring bikes are the best yet. Well worth the small in perspective inconvenience of having the bike fixed. It's not like the MOCO did not step-up to the problem. This is how I and a whole lot of 2014 owners feel, their must be something to why the vast majority of 14 owners love them so much.
In the past, Harley has not stepped up to some of their issues nearly as well. Examples: piston slap issues I experienced on the evo including one rebuild under warranty, head gasket issues on the evo; continued for years, cam bearing issues with the early 88" twin cam motors; problem persisted longer than the first year of production. The crank issues on the later motors, heat issues, etc., etc.
Having a coolant leak and then having it fixed is not a huge issue, having a hydraulic clutch issue and then having it fixed is not the end of the world. I would rather focus on the long, long list of major improvements. are the 14's perfect; NO, are they the best yet, ABSOLUTLEY, IMHO.
