Slapped on a demo Windsplitter shield on the Big Red One and went for a quick check ride.
It was 34 degrees outside, but I had to give this a try around the "block". I have a a great route with quick access to the Interstate that amounts to about 5 miles that I use for checking things out and doing check rides.
First, let me tell you that 34 degrees is COLD!! - especially down here in San Antonio where we just don't see these temps!!!

I put on the 7 inch Windsplitter on in about 1 minute - easy install.
To put things to the acid test, I just wore a ball cap (facing forward).
After warming up the bike I headed out down the road - one mile to the Interstate @ 45 mph.
Once on the IH, I got her up to about 70 - 75 for a couple of miles. I was very pleased that the wind did not try to blow my cap off. Granted, I was hunkering down a bit - did I mention it was COLD?!!
Anyway, I am 5'11" and my experience is that the 7 inch Wind Splitter is just as effective as the stock 10" shield.
It was a short ride, but I plan to put in some miles to see if I really like it. My HD parts guy told me to bring the Demo back "whenever" as he knows it takes more than a day or two to really get the feel of a new wind screen.
All I have to say is that my initial impression is very positive and that I think the 7 in Wind Splitter is a good replacement for the stock 10 in. shield.
I think the shield adds a cool factor of +10 and really opens up the front visibility. I am looking forward to putting in some miles with the new shield. Even if it does not hold up over the long haul, I plan to get one for every day riding and us the stock shield for touring.
Best Regards,
Mark
