Took a 2 hour 81 mile ride yesterday on the CVO.  Was 54 degrees when I left the house at 3:30, got up to 58.  Last 30 minutes of the ride home the temp dropped fast, 46 when I pulled in garage.  It was a nice ride and was glad to get out.

Great 80 mile ride Christmas Eve day, 70 degrees out.

I had planned to go riding today once the rest of the family heads to the beach, but it will be a bone-chilling 69 degrees and I’ll have to break out my winter jacket and make sure my heated grips are working!

Today I gave the bike a minor detail with what I could do in the garage. Nooks and crannies, windshields, etc. We had another great year logging just over 40,000 miles. This surprised me because we had a late start and a lot of random downtime in the summer. But mileage aside, I'm very thankful for the experiences. Renting a Harley in Hawaii and crossing off our 49th state on two wheels was the highlight for me. Best of luck to you all in 2026!

Went out the last 2 days for a couple of hours.
First up through the mountains taking advantage of 60 degrees weather
Yesterday along the beach for the upper 70’s with pretty light traffic.

It was nice again today but I got a new rescue dog to replace my last one after 12 years, so, no rides for the next few days.

So, HI is the last state I need to have ridden 50 States.  Rented a bike in AK.  I have rode my own bikes on 9 Caribbean Islands.  I also rented a bike in Singapore.

Well, I hve several States to go, but I have ridden from Florida to Alaska and back.  Almost 12,000 miles in three weeks.

I've been researching a trip to Maui to ride the bucket list ( and HOG 50 rides, One Nation ) "Highway to Hana".
Just haven't pulled the trigger yet.

Road to Hana is very scenic but if you’re on the bike you can’t see anything!
Lots of traffic and tour busses.
Been there a couple of times and took the tour bus once, better to see the sights.

I remember Maui being clogged with slow traffic also, mostly in town. They rent bikes and exotic cars but there’s really no place to open them up.

Molokai has no stop lights and very little traffic but no bike rentals. There are a few Harley’s on the island in private hands but you have to know them.

Big island…I haven’t been there. I no longer have a “bucket list “ but we DID do the 4 corners in 09 along with the 48 states, took our time and camped out some.

My own list included the highest paved road and lowest paved road in the 48…. Did those a couple of times.

I feel different about our experience but it could have been the time of the year where we lucked out. We rode Road to Hana in the morning during the week. Very little traffic and I enjoyed the views. Especially with adding in a few stops along the way for photos. Lots of overlooks and waterfalls. Now combine Hana with Haleakala National Park and Kahekili Highway (best road of the trip) and it made for an amazing three days of riding. I'd encourage anyone to visit Maui and ride those three routes.

I don’t remember much of what we did there as it was many years ago!
I DO remember a nursery we stopped at on the ocean side that was closed to the public, they had many beautiful plants and a great tour.

There was an estate in Hana belonging to some celebrity (singer?) that we met the caretaker there.
Very nice guy we hung out with at a picnic lunch.

The last time we were there it was a helo tour on that end of the island.
I think it was the dry season because some of the waterfalls were very slow.

We skipped most of the islands and just stayed with my brother on Molokai where we had or own beach.
Very relaxing but nothing to do. My sister in law is a native born and raised there and puts me to work when I show up!

I think I like Kauai the best, probably for the scenery.

I don’t think I’d like to live anywhere over there.
Maybe when I can’t ride anymore.

Nice to remember some of those times and pull up some family photos.
