Mike I just google mapped G16......I've always known it as Carmel Valley Rd. Haven't rode it since I lived in Nor Cal many years ago...so might have to pass on Casa de Fruita and take Carmel Valley Rd. the next time I'm up that way. I ususally make it three or four times a year.
Alan (SDCVO on this forum) is from San Diego area and he likes to do those long haul rides on a Sat. or Sun.......damn near every weekend. He's an aggressive rider.....I have a hard time keeping up with him.
I think it’s time for me to stay on the “paved roads” that, at least, has a stripe down the centerline!
I’ve had my past cvo’s on some real goat trails that I had no business doing!
I’ve met up with lots of the “adventure bikes” out there wondering what the hell is a bagger doing here!
Crazy: no, stupid: yes. I did these roads in the past on my 1965 FLH, but that was then when I could pick the bike up when I fell! I’m not that strong anymore and NEED to be more careful.
Sucks getting old.
Any time I lead a group I really avoid these types of situations for the sake of the group.
My current long distance bike is my 2019 CVO limited with 115000+ miles, running like a top!
( Dave: this 124 just keeps plugging along, best engine I ever ran)
