New HD V-Rod-based Street 750 and Street 500
« Reply #32 on: November 07, 2013, 07:24:09 PM »

Surprised no one spotted MoCo's two new bikes, just announced yesterday.  They're basically blacked-out 750cc and 500cc versions of the V-Rod.  Check it out at www.harley-davidson.com.  I ran across the news at www.thekneeslider.com.  Thoughts?

The bikes destined for the North American market will be built in Kansas City.  Those destined for the international market will be built in India.

So now Harley can get there unreliable, poorly engineered and assembled products in to the hands of young beginner riders. All this will do is turn those new young riders off the brand from the get go once they experience what Harley quality is all about. Surly they will all be switching to rice rockets for there next bikes!!

I like it.
I think it's about time HD stretched their "comfort zone" a little bit by expanding the models offered, and the drivetrain on these looks to be based on the VROD - which despite the reluctant tollerance by some of the HD riding family is actually a great performing liquid cooled Harley. I think these will be good bikes and it looks like they fixed my one gripe about the VROD and actually put mid controls on these so that each ride won't require chiropractic care afterwards.

It was thanks for sharing :2vrolijk_21:... I was (and still am) digging these bikes... however when Mark-Hans Richer mentioned "Project Rushmore" I was rudely awakened and realized that I may want to take a breath and say how these bikes stand the "real world" test, since we are speaking of something coming from the MoCo. :-\ :nervous:. Even though I had my taste of reality I'm still interested in this new model... I see a lot of potential for the aftermarket to get there hands on these bikes and develop some 900/1000cc upgrade kits to turn these into mean, lean, street fighting bikes (hell... the MoCo may even provide [already developed] something :nixweiss:). A lightweight bike w/a lot of TQ/HP could be fun to ride... bring back the days of youth to this ole fart. :D :D
