Wild1 Chubby's Install???
« on: November 09, 2006, 10:52:43 AM »

There are a few people on this site that are considering installing the Wild1 575 chubbys on their scooters and were looking for some help from those who done the install themselves. I found the thread that had pics of the install but do to the work of that nasty hacker, they have been lost! Mobe placed the pictures of his install and I was thinking there was a cherry that took pictures too. If you happen to still have them pictures could you please place them here for those considering doing the install themselves. Thanks and God Bless! [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Ordered mine from Jim (hd-dude) day before yesterday, 2+ brake lines from HD Chicago, and clamp from CCI...plus a few other trinkets to put on at the same time.

Sure would be nice to have some pics, but Jim has promised phone support, if necessary.  He says 6 hours if you've never done it before, so that will probably mean two days for me... ;D ;D

I will take pics during my install, provided I actually get them installed... ;)

TC
I got a set of +2's for Los Dragon on the way from Jim. Got all my lines, cables and brake line splitter from him too. Nice site discount I might add.  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

B, yea, Jim's a hell of a guy...wish I lived closer and he would be doing a lot of this kind of stuff for me.  We talked on the phone a bit...the brake line he had would have worked, but I would have to lose a small piece of chrome and that is sacreligious, so I got the HD +2...Jim didn't know HD was offering those now, so he's going to give them a try as well. He also said that all my other cables should work, or at least 80% of the time they do, so keep your fingers crossed for me.  Let me know how your's work out...I'm anxious to get these on, as I think it will really finally get the bike to fit me better on long hauls.

This shows the CB module removed (it's hanging off to the right - you can see the coax fitting on it) It's only a single screw to remove it after you disconnect the antenna wire. The module with the pink connector is the XM Satellite module which also is secured with one screw.

You will need to remove the ignition switch to remove the accessory housing

Ignition switch has 2 rings and 1 retainer nut. Item on left is the retainer nut. Be sure to position the middle one with the tabs UP when reassembling. Item on right is installed 1st.

Left riser closeup. Note how there is a grounding wire underneath the clamp. This is important as there is a washer that goes underneath the other clamp. Be sure to re-install these correctly because if you put both under one clamp your handlebars will be too high on one side and you'll never get your radio back in!
