Little over 1600 miles a year? Probably just lonesome. :coolblue:

I've been on HD's since 98.  Back in 2008 I got a new Goldwing but I didn't sell my 07 SG. The times I would switch between bikes I noticed how much better the Wing handled and hands down more power,  but it had a much bigger engine.  Within a year the Wing had a new owner and and I was back on the SG, what is advertised as the ultimate touring bike killed my back after about 300 miles. Like others have said the new frame made a huge improvement in the handling department and the power of the 110, IMHO, buts the CVO on level ground with the Wing. I can't say anything about the Yamaha since I have never ridden one. I can't help but think if you had a 09 or newer you would be happy with the HD.   Lots of luck and good riding no matter which one you end up with.

Isn't there a product by Kuryakan called a suspension link... Or something that was supposed to help with handling. Anybody running one?

I have both a FLHTCSE2 and a Valkyrie Interstate and they are both great bikes. Both have different characteristics, and have their own  advantages. Both of them have quick detachable tour packs for traveling when needed. The 6 cylinder engine is smoother and more vibration free than the Twin Cam, but the Twin Cam has more primal character and sounds great! Both have plenty of power to do whatever a person wants to do. They fulfill every type of riding that I do, and I don't see anything out there right now that I would rather have than both of them, so they are a perfect fit for me.  :)

Put some Progressive Monotubes or HD Premium Touring cartridges in the front end and different shocks.  All stock HD suspension sucks and effects handling negatively.  Depending on what shocks you decide on and whether you do the work yourself or not, expect to spend somewhere between $1000 and $1500.  It can be more...just depends on what you call "good".  If you don't have a short inseam, the rear shock choices are nearly infinite, but some good names are Bitubo, Ohlin, the higher end Progressive, Works, Suspension Technology.  If you want the ultimate in front end suspension, look at Traxxion Dynamics AK-20 cartridges.  Those and good shocks will put you more in the $2000 range.

When I'm on my Harley, it feels like I'm riding something 'alive'.  I don't get that sensation on metrics.

owl8983 said it pretty good. Something about a Harley that soothes the soul. Maybe it's the feeling of conquering the ride. With Harley's, it's more than just the bike, it's all that goes with it, clothes, accessories, and other riders, and even the company itself. Before my '12 CVO Ultra, I had an '08 Ultra and I agree, the new suspension is a lot better. I always heard about it, but the '12 feels a lot better.

About a year ago I had the opportunity to buy a BMW 1600 GTL (not metric I know but..) at a amazing deal that was hard to pass up and I could have probably rode for a year and still not lost any money which is hard to do on the big BMW's. I spent a day on it and though I loved the power and handling of the bike and would definitely want it if it was my only mode of transportation, as a "toy" it just didn't have what I love about my CVO. What it did shoe me however was that I really wanted that power and handling that I felt on the BMW (or as close to it as I could get). Though it might not be as good of a investment, I decided to "chase" that on my bike so I put on Ohlin 6's on the rear, Premium cartridges on the front and a 120r motor. It might not be at the level of the BMW now but it is a E Ticket ride as far as Im concerned and everything I want in a motorcycle. Many of my friends have either metric bikes or BMW's or both and they give me a hard time constantly about how much money I am always putting into my bike (not just the performance mods) and the fact I could have multiple bikes for what I have into mine. I just smile at them and say "to each their own" but I will tell you, they can't pull away from me...

Why don't you post up a picture of your bike. We'd love to see it. There's nothing bad at all about a Goldwing. I rode my neighbors and it was smooth and powerful.

Ah yes, they call that one "The Nemo". Very nice looking bike!

I like the wood deck parking, is that in Florida? Where are you in the states? We have members all over to go riding with. Maybe you already posted an introduction in another thread, but tell us a little about yourself. How long you have been riding, if you are a self taught rider or had some kind of training, if you ever rode in the dirt, what different bikes you have had, the models, makes and years, if you ever served in the military, and what your favorite tour or route is. Chances are you have crossed paths with one of us along the way.

I grew up riding two stroke street bikes, I've owned 9 bikes the last two were a 06 Kawasaki Concours and a 11 Yamaha Stryker. I got my first bike at 14 and been riding every since , I'm 55 yrs old so I gave up sport riding , used to love to drag a knee sometimes but I don't heal up as fast now(lol) . I live in southeast Alabama bout five min from Fl. Line, the photo was taken at Thunder beach rally in PC Florida the day I bought my bike. I was on the Stryker forum and got a lot of good info there so that's why I joined here , lot of Harley forums but I think y'all are the best.
