Thanks guys for all your input, I am really starting to see what y'all mean about my Harley , it gets in your blood real quick. Everybody has given me great compliments on my bike every time I ride.
Yes, it certainly does. Metrics are fine, but no metric that I've ever ridden moved my soul anything like the way my SESG does. Mechanically metrics may be fine bikes... but there's just something about riding a Harley that goes deeper. I have bonded with my Harleys in a way that I never did with my metrics.
And yeah, people will approach you when you are stopped on your Harley and talk to you. Harley's just draw peoples' attention and admiration because they are such beautiful machines. And your bike is very beautiful, indeed!
You can address the handling issues of your pre-2009 frame with a True Track rear stabilizing system and better fork innards. I had a True Track stabilizer on my 1995 FLHTP, and it did wonders for the handling. I have the Traxxion Dynamics AK-20 forks on Honey Badger, but there are far less expensive alternatives like the Progressives that will serve most peoples' needs just fine.
Just get out and ride your bike, and you will develop more of a feel for the handling. Over time, you will become more comfortable with it. The big Harley Touring bikes are very heavy, and they will never handle they way a lighter cruiser will, but more time in the saddle will increase your confidence immensely, and you will begin to enjoy the ride more.
Good luck!
Ken
