I don't understand why the tech's don't pre par the bikes to the receiver. It is also a great way to make sure the bike is setup correct. In this case the dealership would ask the customer to bring in his receiver with the bike, that way the tech could take care of the final setup. All the customer would need to do is plug the receiver back in and re-attach the two wires.
I purchased the GDO kit and had my dealer make the bike install. Unknown to me, the tech had made a mistake in the setup; I installed the receiver and spent a lot of time trying to figure out why the opener would not work. It takes two people to par the bike and receiver. Finally I took the bike back and mentioned that it would be better if they pre-checked to make sure installation was correct by pre paring the bike and receiver, once completed it took me two minutes to complete the setup.
The touring bikes should be pre-wired for the garage door opener kit, it should be as simple as opening the fairing and plugging in the part. IMHO, the MoCo is behind the curve on this.
