I am nervous about driving over long bridges in my car, especially those over water.

bhg,
you've got 2 ways to get across-
1) there's a winding road that runs at ground level that should be fun on a rod,
or 2) set 'er up on the rear only and smoke it all the way across!!!!! [smiley=banana.gif] [smiley=jalapeno.gif] [smiley=huepfenjump3.gif] [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif] :o [smiley=banana.gif]

Isn't that how the owner's manual tells you to ride it??!!???

RJob the picture of the Royal Gorge Bridge is giving me tummy trouble.   [smiley=nervous.gif]

I've driven a car over short bridges crossing Lake Lanier here in GA that have "slats" (for lack of the proper term) which make noise and are a little bumpy.  I would think my teeth would clack together if I rode the V-Rod over those slats.

I'll have to cross little bridges with Dirk to gain confidence.

Are there bridges no biker should cross?

This is completely off topic, but....

Mmmmm...k, articdude you live in Oklahoma.   [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

(crickets chirping in silence)

"Artic".....I'm thinking Alaska, British Columbia, North Pole.  [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

Enjoy the ride!  Julia

Sit right back and you'll hear a tale, a tale of a mighty trip...that takes John and Debby(ie) to the arctic circle and back without a slip

...and BHG, you want a goal????  Debby(ie) did it on her own bike!!!

Julia,
You asked about bridges you shouldn't cross there is one that comes to mind that you shouldn't cross until you get some riding experience. That would be a bridge that has metal grate (normally found on draw bridges). These bridges seem to make the bike feel like it wants to steer itself, and they can be treacherous when wet. Not that they can't be crossed, but will definitely be something you want to do after a little riding under your belt.

A great eample of this was the old Jamestown Bridge in RI...now replaced and Blow'd Up....you would have to start the grated section at the center line...by the time you got to the end of the grated section you were at the curb...that was not a fun bridge.

Always the voice of reason steps forward.  d00d is correct, learn the technique and be confidant in your ability before crossing the grated spans.

d00d, you are one old married biker buddy. You missed BHG's innuendo by the distance from your house to mine my friend.
