Didn't Think It Could Happen To Me!
« on: November 21, 2013, 11:07:22 PM »

I will try to make this short. KNOW THE 10 SIGNS OF A HEART ATTACK! 90%blockage,triple bypass,it happened to me. For those that don't know my story is documented here on this great site. For at least two months, I did not have Hollywood symptoms, you know arm is hurting, grab the chest, lot of pain. I would be sweating like a pig, while putting on my work clothes or brushing my teeth or sitting in my work truck with the AC on full blast. I would all of a sudden feel sick...throw up sick. I was very fatigued tired, would feel dizzy and light headed with every now and then. The symptoms may have even started six months prior but I did not start paying attention until they progressed to happen more often. These are at least half of the warning signs of a heart attack, trouble was they did not scream to me that I may have a serious problem. My heart doctor said these are commonly called Widow Makers, you pass out but don't wake up. I blacked out and hit two trucks while we were on the bike, I woke up in the road not knowing what had happened, I was hurt bad, bike was totaled. The worst thing was that it almost killed the most important thing in the world to me, my wife!!! This happened May 7th 2013, we are still recovering from our injuries and are getting better every day. Again Thanks to all that have been there for us and your prayers and words of encouragement. Don't want to preach.

Please Google the signs of a Heart Attack!

Thanks for reading!      Arland @ Vickie

UPDATE 12/06/13  Went to hospital for outpatient surgery. I am the new owner of a Implantable Cardiovertor Defibrillator. All went well. They implanted it right below my left collar bone, its pretty sore in that area, feels like they hit me with a shovel. Must remember to scratch with my right hand.lol So it is in place if I need shocking.

Glad you're still with us, Arland! I have read your story here.

A heart attack took out about half of my father's heart in 1990. He lived for a few more months, but of course he had no quality of life like before. He was a strong as an Ox before that. An emergency stent had saved his life from another one about 3 years before that one.

Hang in there, and keep us informed about your and Vickie's recovery. God Bless.

Thanks for this, Arland ... something everyone should be aware of!

I hope you and Vickie are continuing to heal well and completely.  Really hope to see you at RibFest in the spring, even if it's by cage.

All my best ...

Rick

I recall from my father's bypass some years ago that it's about this time that he started feeling good enough to be restless, but wasn't quite recovered enough to physically do what his mind wanted to do...  Best wishes with your recovery!

Arland glad to hear you made it through all that, once we talked about getting together for a beer, I'd still like to do that one day.  :2vrolijk_21:
