Thinking of doing the same thing over the holidays. Looking forward to your report.

I use a Schuberth C3 Pro with a J&M Elite headset on my 2010 FLHTCUSE5 and the helmet is awesome. It is the quietest helmet I have ever used. The J&M headset is high quality. I had a problem with the J&M pigtail detaching from the helmet cord and discovered that you have to really press the lower cord into the upper cord HARD to get them to completely mate. Only negative: the Schuberth runs hot in warm weather even with the vents open.

Does the upper cord detach readily from the helmet when you don't need to use the headset?

Edited 8:24PM 12/12/13...

The upper cord and the lower cord can be detached when you are not using the headset. That said, the upper cord is about a foot long from the helmet. See the attached picture from http://www.jmcorp.com/SeeProducts.asp?PF=08. This means that you would have to come up with a way to secure the upper cord to the helmet when not in use.

I just went downstairs and looked at my helmet and realized that the upper cord is attached to the helmet with a plug and can be removed. So you can totally remove the cord if you do not want to use the headset.

Here's my concern, I have a 2012 ultra and the headsets that came from MoCo sound very "tinny" in my winter full-face helmet.  I've tried both sets that came with the bike but to no use.   I have to crank the bass and just abut turn the treble all the way down.   Anyone else experience that?   Is it a bad set of sets or just normal for headsets you add to a helmet?

Mine work just fine. Have both sets installed in other helmets.

Are you sure that the speakers are positioned in the correct spot and not off the ears a bit?  Makes a big difference.

Placement of the speakers is really critical...even then, it won't ever sound like a set of headphones or even good earbuds.  It's one of those "get it as good as you can" deals.

I didn't think about the position being critical.  I have them in the ear opening, but they may be offset from what is optimum (whatever that is?).  I'll check it out. :2vrolijk_21:

Looking to install a set of speakers and mic in my Schubert and the one J&M make looks neat and very concealed.

Does anyone have experience with their sound quality from their headsets?

Been using this mod for years, works well.

Have J&M speakers in several of my helmets. Best I have found other than in-ear models.
