Old English Estates
« on: December 18, 2013, 09:29:25 AM »

Out in the English country side there are old estates that have been converted into posh Hotels.
This is one of them, my work takes me to these kind of sites. So I thought I'd start to share.

This one is in the county of Hertfordshire NE of London. With golf course and only a £10,000
                  membership dews.

would love to tour the English countryside, especially the area where the English "Thornton" family name originated.

Keep the pics coming, love the old country.  :2vrolijk_21:

Longlast, thanks for the pictures.

I was able to come to England back in '87 for a couple weekends on each end of a week in France.  Didn't rent a car, but did a lot of walking around.  Did the touristy thing to Windsor Castle and Leeds for day trips.  Beautiful area, but in reality probably not too far from London.  Oh, we also went to Stonehenge for a visit too.

I wanted to comment on the housing and larger buildings.

My wife and I have been watching Netflix a lot and we've gotten hooked on British TV shows and series'.

We watched all of Peroit, Kingdom, Vicar of Dibly, a few other single movies and now we're in the 12th of 13 seasons of Midsummer Murders.  We've enjoyed the country side filming a lot.  The houses, villages, larger towns etc are all very charming.  I'm sure just as there is here, there are "some" areas not so fancy and charming.

Thanks again for sharing.

I really enjoyed that walk through, Pete.  At  £10,000 ($16,400 US equiv...whew), 'bout all I could do is walk around and take some pictures.... ;D

There was an old estate in the Augusta, GA area years ago (I'm sure it's still there) that was designed/built to look like an english tudor house outside and in.  Was a hoot to tramp through that place.  Someday, Vickie and I will come visit jolly ol' England....hopefully before I'm too old and feeble to enjoy it... :2vrolijk_21:

Midsummer Murders,..the wife loves it. If you like the comedy look for Mrs Browns Boys it's a gut twister

Those were really nice pics. Waiting to see more. We used to go TDY to Mildenhall back in the day. Really liked the country side and Piccadilly Circus.
