Wild ones 575's
« on: December 30, 2013, 01:36:55 PM »

I know it's been gone over many times but here it goes. Hate my stock bars reach to much causes sore shoulders so winter project is to replace. Have heard a lot about the 575's and think this is my choice but just looking for some feed back on comfort. Don't want apes have ridin with those before sorry but just not my thing, want my hands behind the fairing. Had the hd pullback bars on my 05 but as stated by some on here was like a wheelbarrow ,just need a couple inches up and couple back without replacing a bunch of lines and wires. Thanks for any advice that will help in my decision.

I like mine! Keeps the hands behind the fairing.....better wrist angle.... a bit less reaching. They are wider than stock, didn't take long to get used to.

Maybe it's just me, but I notice them being wider more than I notice them being closer or higher.  I wouldn't mind them being a bit higher, myself, but there's not a lot of adjustment there due to how thick they are.  They are somewhat better than stock, position-wise, but I didn't notice a night-and-day difference like I thought I would.  They are pretty, though.

One of the best upgrades I made. The 575's are 2 inches closer to the rider, 2 inches higher, and 2 inches wider on both sides.  So that is a very nice improvement in over all seating position and reach. But the best part of the bars is the hand position angle. It puts you hands in the most neutral position you can imagine. No twist or flex in the wrists when using these bars. Love them for that. Also no need to change any wiring or cables. Have to disconnect the clutch line and re-rout it. Also makes it much easier when making U turns.  Makes it a bit harder when pushing the bike by hand. ( very rear occurrence for most, as Harley's are SO reliable  ;) )   Dew to there width, it makes steering sooooo much easier, especially on the free way when you have muscle the bike around. This ease of steering effort takes a little while to get used to after the stock bars. I seemed to have bin over correcting but got used to it in a few hundred miles. The mirrors sight lines are unchanged, so I am a huge fan of these bars. Cheers.

One more of the bars installed. Best shot I have for what's it worth.

I know something is missing. Just keep looking at the bars.  ;D

You could go a little higher than the 575's and still remain behind the fairing.   After putting 12" Twin Peaks Bagger bars on my 2011 SESG, I couldn't stand the 575's on my 05 Ultra.

You could go with a 10" bagger bar and still keep your hands behind the fairing.  I believe the Wild One 577's are 10".

577s are 12".    578s are 10".   I went with the 12".  Love em.  Both are really nice.

FYI. I noticed on a friends CVO Ultra, the placement of the factory installed GPS will interferes with rocking any mimi apes as far forward as I did on my FLXHSE2.

I've noticed that in a lot of pictures.

FWIW, I was deliriously happy with my 575s on my FLHTK.  The 578s look interesting, but I ride in the cold and the rain enough that I want my hands completely behind the fairing.

Good point on the GPS. Is the 575 the only bars that will fit without changing cabling and controls? I don't have any issues with the stock bars but then I haven't ridden anything else. If I could get a better feel without changing cabling or relocating the GPS then I'd check it out. Anyone in SE Idaho have these installed? OK joking there as we might have 3 CVO bikes in my area.  Anyway, sounds like something to consider. Thanks guys.

CVOThunder,

I installed the Wild Chubby 578's with the help of CVO Brian! I didn't have to change any wires or brake or clutch lines. No problem with the GPS. I really like the bars & they make the bike handle like it has power steering. They aren't hard to change BUT they are a lot of work!

I hope this helps!

I moved my stock bars all the way to they hit the fairing and a world of differs , my shoulder and neck was hurting on a 200 mile ride , no long after i moved the stock bars as up toward the fairing as far as they would move without  hitting the fairing, my shoulders and neck don't hurt after a 600 mile a day ride !!!
