AS I THOUGHT MOST OF YOU THINK IM ASKING TO BE COOL. THE WIFE IS VERTICALLY CHALLENGED AND I BOUGHT HER A STREET GLIDE WITH THE INTENTION OF GETTING THE FBI SEAT KIT. THEY ARE NOT RELEASING THE 2014 FBI KIT TILL MARCH. REALLY THANKS FOR THE INPUT. I WAS TOLD THE WAS SOME SMART PEOPLE ON HERE. GUESS THEY WERE WRONG!!! THANKS FOR NOTHING
You got some smart answers Lou, but obviously you aren't interested in your wife's safety if you really plan to install ten inch shocks. Perhaps next time you ask a question you should state your reason for asking the question, which in this case would have eliminated the assumption by some that you were just trying to look "cool". Btw, I'm not aware of any reputable company making ten inch shocks for a Harley touring model. There is a reason for that; it's called real engineering knowledge and product liability. A company like Progressive for instance won't normally offer and promote products they know are unsafe. On the other hand some of the fly by night "custom" shops will offer anything you want, since they are small enough to fly below the radar and just disappear if the lawsuits start piling up.
This site has plenty of vertically challenged people who have found solutions that didn't involve your idea of ten inch shocks. Search the site and you will find some. The main answers involve things like reshaped seats, better riding boots with thicker soles and heels, or air suspension systems like the Legend that allows you to drop the bike down for moving it around with your feet, and then pumping it back up to a safe height when actually riding.
