Talk to Corbin about one of their close seats with a nose job which narrows the front of the seat so you can keep your legs closer together so it will be easier to get your feet on the ground. Also, most Harley dealers have a fitting bike on the showroom that she could try different options to see what works best. They have one inch and two inch thick mats to see how far you need to go to be comfortable. The air suspension will work for parking but will not help with stop signs and red lights,as it is not practical to air down for every stop sign or red light. Sorry you took some kidding around seriously, there is a wealth of knowledge on this sight and most everyone is willing to help but we like to kid around with each other also! Welcome to the sight!

AS I THOUGHT MOST OF YOU THINK IM ASKING TO BE COOL. I WAS TOLD THE WAS SOME SMART PEOPLE ON HERE. GUESS THEY WERE WRONG!!! THANKS FOR NOTHING

CVO owners love cool bikes as much anyone, and we short ones (I'm just over 5'6") need the lowering, so we have lots of experience on this board with it.  After I read your comment above, I went back and looked at everybody's answers.  It may not seem like it at first, but go back and look again. What you got was smart, experienced people giving you direct, straight-forward answers:  Namely, it's a very bad idea to put 10 inch shocks on her bike.  We said it's going to scrape, to ride badly, and to be dangerous to where it's nearly unusable.  Nobody here wants your wife to high-side in a corner after scraping a floorboard mount.   :(

About the FBI drop-seat kit for the '14s:  I wasn't aware that enough had changed on the new bikes that the original kit, which I believe fits '09 to '13 (the new frame), wouldn't work on the '14.  Anybody know why?  Linked ABS? Saddlebag mounting points? Wet head?   :nixweiss:

I would not recommend lowering any HD, the ground clearance is not there.

Lower sadle is in my opinion the only option.

Two things:
Your rear arm will only drop so far then it starts hitting the rear of the transmission so be carefull. Air or hydraulic suspension would be best.

You could also look into dropping it 1" in the rear and 1" in the front and gain almost the same distance to seat as trying to take it down 2" in the rear.

Just thoughts and considerations.

I agree, I lowered my Ultra, 1" front and rear and I can get my feet flat on the ground, I am only 5ft 4ins. Still corners OK and we have a lot of corners over here. lol

Has anyone tried to just lower the front 1" with progressive drop in springs? If so, do they give at least a 1/2" for flat footing? What about the ride of the front suspension is it still an upgrade over stock?

lowering rear shocks on street glide with ten inch shocks any thoughts???

I am 5'5" and I feel like I am flat footing it. I did not know that our CVOs could be lowered at all because of the progressive type shocks we have. My friend with a regular street glide lowered hers, she has a different type of shock, and she loves it.

If it is a CVO, get taller boots! Make sure, if they are HD boots, that they are the REAL riding kind. Most of the women's boots at my HD are "post riding" boots, in a word, worthless! I rode with them over a year til I wore them out and was wondering why I had such gripping problems. New RIDING boots made a world of difference.

Oh, and C&C makes a reduced reach solo seat. I had it moved forward an additional two inches, which may not really have affected the flat foot issue that much, but makes everything else better.

Good luck!

Save your breath folks, it appears that BIKERLOU got pissed off at us and cancelled his site membership.  I love it when someone who knows nothing asks a question and then gets pissed off at the folks who give him the (correct) answer.

The SG already has 12" shocks on the rear, and I would NEVER go any shorter than that on a bike that is actually ridden.  Not only would a 10" shock be unsafe from a ground clearance standpoint, but the rear tire would be scraping the inside of the rear fender, causing ALL KINDS of other issues, including chewing up the wiring harness running to the rear of the bike.  It would be a death trap, and I'm certain you do not want that for anyone you know.

To get the bike THAT low for purposes of getting feet flat on the ground, the ONLY valid solution is something like the Legend Air Suspension.  That's a fact, pure and simple.

I just love it when a newbie comes on the site asking for advice, giving limited information as to why he/she is seeking the advice, then gets his panties all wadded up when he hears something he doesn't want to hear.  Grow up...

Hey how much does that legend air suspension run? I probably wouldn't ever do it, but imagine it is some big bucks!

Depending on where you buy it and if you get a couple of accessories, from $1400-$1600.

Nobody thinks a think about putting that kind of money to create more HP/TQ so they can go faster in a straight line, but one of the very first things that needs to be upgraded on a HD is the suspension, IMO.
