Another update if anyone GAS. It was over 70 deg in NYC today! Out riding all day and stopped at my friend's shop. My new mufflers came in. These S&S SPOs look really cool. I see why some here painted the back ends black. Good idea. Gotta get a can of BBQ/Stove paint for that, I guess. Really well made piece though. These things look like they'll last forever. He suggested that I put about 250 mellow miles on it in cool weather first. Then dump that Syn-3 "flush" out of it, and put my good fluids in. Then he's gonna Dyno-tune the bike with the PC to only 4K RPM. He said it's amazing how different each bike is. A pre-programmed map is not necessarily good for the same 2 identically set-up motors. And there is no map for a 110" with S&S SPOs anyway. Then I'll have it re-Dyno'd at 1K for the full RPM range. He also said don't bother turning on the Rev Extend with the stock cams as they are non-existent at those RPMs anyway. He thinks he should get 90-95 HP and 105-110TQ with this combo and a good tune. He said I should get similar gas mileage as stock too. I'll be thrilled with those numbers! Getting close now! ;) Hoist!

Hey Hoist!
I'll be interested to hear what your gas mileage is after all the tuning - as you know I have the SPO's and currently (pre cams etc) whilst they perform good and sound mellow - the mileage sucks

I intend to get 2 tunes (after the cams are in) - one for performance and one for touring

Then hopefully I can mix and match to suit my urges (!)

Hey Dave, I'll get some numbers out as I go thru the various stages. I'm really curious myself with all the crazy things going on with these bikes. I plan on keeping track from day one and compare all the adjustments made. After the first 250, I want to Dyno the stock set-up to 4000 RPM. Then put on the mufflers and PC and Dyno-tune to 4000 RPM and compare. I'll also be able to start comparing mileage. Then re-Dyno at 1000 to full RPM. I want to find out if these new motors just need to be set up properly from scratch or if they're not as good as the earlier TCs. And I think I'm gonna need a 2 Year Warranty to do that! ;) Hoist!

The Black Ice paint I've seen out in the sunlight has small silver flake in it...more like a metallic paint than a metal flake paint....looked really good!

Howie, just saw your thread here and read it cover to cover.  Between shipping to Atlantis, bs about break in oil and a huge pile of parts waiting to be attached to a 2 year warranty you are having yourself a grand old time buddy.  And you're getting soooooooooooooooooooo close.  It's got to be hell now.  Knowing it's just around the corner.  Calling your name, "Howie, Howie, touch me, I'm ready, NOW!"  You're almost out of the woods now though.  As soon as they get it back from Atlantis.
