jimp,
Gotta love your style dude, but don't it make you boil. I neve would have thought about the secret tape idea, but you can bet your a$$ I will if I need to in the future. I had a similar experince. I left a set of Screamin Eagle platinum plugs 5 qts of AMSOIL and 1qt of AMSOIL trans fluid in my saddlebags for a 10k service. Written on the invoice "Spark plugs and fluids in saddlebags". Got the bike home and it was dirty so I put it up on the lift. First thing I noticed was regular plugs and not the Screamin Eagles. Pulled the air cleaner cover and the K&N was dirty. Put a stick in the fluid areas and put a drop on a white card along side some Syn 3 - - perfect match. AMSOIL is a lot darker than Syn 3 Went nuts on the service manager. Now here's the good part. This particular wrench was known as a pack rat around the shop. He saved everything. He should have had 4oz of AMSOIL left in a bottle. He claimed to have thrown it out, but at his work station were a dozen bottles of oil and other fluids with only a oz or two in them. Also, brand new set of Screamin Eagle platinum plugs on top of his tool box. He claimed the stock plugs were better and he was doing me a favor. Long story short, they redid the service free, refunded my money from the first time. Bought the AMSOIL and put it in along with a new K&N air filter even though the old one was not bad just dirty and they gave it to me. I told the service manager I would hate to see the tech fired because of it but I never wanted to see him near a motorcycle of mine again. ( he didn't get fired) Now they do things right the first time and my bikes are always returned clean and shiny. Don'y know how you're going to prove your point if they don't buy the secret tape thing. Good luck to you and let us know how it turns out. Thanks again for the idea. Sucks we have to do stuff like that but that's the way of it with flat rate shops.
