Don't use the dry method. Consider a home made tool to eliminate the air and fully oil the lifter.
Needed are a Mityvac or other vacuum source, a mason jar and a barbed bulkhead fitting.
Put the builkhead in the steel lid and fill the jar half full with oil. put the lifters in submerged. Close the ld and apply a vacuum to the jar. You will see bubbles and then they will stop. All done, lifters pre-oiled.

I will .. and to be clear. I oiled the lifters thru the side hole until it stopped bubbling. and then I checked it twice .. hell I checked it a 3rd time, I was looking for a charm.  :bananarock:

I just got my S&S lifters and they are not primed. I'm getting full travel. I'm holding the lifter in submerged oil and using the pushrod to pump it. Occasionally an air bubble comes up. After 15 minutes and not feeling much progress on one of them I decided to make up a vacuum jar like Don described. I'm just waiting for the silicone to dry enough to use the mason jar. How long does it take to prime once I put them in the vacuum?

Running my tool route today I stopped by the dealer to give it a quick test spin to see and hear how she goes .. My report is ~ I am very happy no pinging no detonation and the front wheel popped going to second (I really didn't think that was possible w a hyd. clutch) super quiet at the cam cavity, and super seat of the pants feel .. very happy
