C&C seat or Corbin
« on: April 28, 2014, 10:24:33 PM »

Looking at replacing the factory seat on my 2012. I am looking for a dark brown and it appears that C&C and Corbin both offer something that will be acceptable.
So my question is?
1. Is the C&C seat as firm as the Corbin?
2. Will one work company work with me better on narrowing the nose and thigh area?

I've heard good reports on both seats.  I have a Corbin that I would not trade in on any seat.  I've ridden several 15 hr days without any butt pain.  Everyone's butt is different, if there was a way to try both out first, that would be the best way to choose.  I'm sure both companies will design it to your specs.

I have not tried a Corbin, but I have a C&C. It's okay but I have to get off after a couple of hours, it makes you sit low but if I would do it again, I would have had it with a backrest. I bought a new Mustang heated with backrest for longer hauls, the C&C is good for short runs I feel, but no two azzes are the same.

I've had a leather C&C Squareback on the Night Train for about 6 years.  It's a great-looking seat that is surprisingly comfortable over the long haul (I've ridden that bike from Maryland to Maine, and down to Kentucky).  It looks as good now as the day I bought it.  That said, I'd never buy another one.

I ordered one of their big, cushy touring seats for my FLHTK.  Got it quickly, then fought with it for about an hour trying to get it on the bike.  Turns out they'd sent me a Street Glide seat rather than an Ultra seat, as the underside of the seat wasn't relieved for the saddlebag guards.  Not a big deal once I figured it out.  I sent Chuck at C&C a couple of pictures and gave him a call.  His initial "advice" was that I wasn't installing the seat right (please....).  After sending him more pictures with the seat jacked up at the bag guards and the tail of the seat 3" off the fender, his response was....."well everyone takes those ugly bag guards off."  That's great I said, but I'm not.  I just want the seat that I ordered for the bike I own.  He hung up on me.  I called him back to see if he was going to take the thing back or if I was stuck with his mistake.  He hung up on me again.

It took a couple of weeks, but I got the RMA taken care of and my money back.  It's a shame Chuck couldn't just look at the pictures, see that it was a simple mistake, and correct it.

So after that I went with a Corbin and I've never looked back.  It's not as good-looking of a seat, but I've had no issues with 18-hour days on one.

Members here seem to like the corbin saddles more then the C&C saddles. I have had nothing but great success with the C&C seats myself.

Comfy for both the wife and I on the sports touring saddle with riders back rest and solo seat when riding with the boys.

Both companies make really great seats.

Train- that sux! First that I have heard of them being ugly like that. But in the end your butt is happy with Corbin and that's what really matters!!!

It does suck.  I really would like to get a matching solo seat, but I just can't see dealing with them again.

I bought a C&C seat several years ago with a backrest.  It is a high quality seat but is also soft.  I get butt numb after an hour or so.  Also, the backrest pushes me too far forward so I don't use it.  I thought of bending the backrest backward but don't have the correct tools to do so.  Also, there was no heated seat option.

I demo'ed the LaPera and like it.  The only thing I did not like is they did not offer a backrest.

Next time I order a seat I want to go to the factory so it is right.  I live in Vermont so Mustang is a few hours away.  I might try them.

I like the Corbin seats I owned over the years and would buy Corbin again.

Great seats but awful customer service at Corbin.

I just spoke to Marty with Corbin. He was extremely helpful and is sending some color samples for me to look at. I am looking at the Dual Tour and the Solo Tour. The only difference is in the passenger pillion width, the solo tour is 1 inch smaller.

I think this is the best idea if you can do that. I believe you will be happier with the end result.

Living only a hour away from Corbin, we've had quite a few made. Being there while the seat is constructed gives one the opportunity for a reshape or to address fitment issues. Their mail order is hit and miss from what I hear though. Whatever manufacturer one chooses, it's always worth a road trip for drive in construction. Especially if you have a BSR because if she isn't happy......

Corbin, The customer service is hit or miss they sent me a seat with a very small hole in the leather so I called and say send me a replacement and I will ship this one back not that easy. They need me to send pictures to them and once they send you a seat it yours no exchanging it for a replacement, after I send the pictures they say OK send it back I say great and she said it will take 8 to 12 weeks for us to fix. So I say I order it and had it in less than a week and now you are tell 8-12 weeks she yes that how Long it will be.

Several CVO members with Corbin seats have sat on my C&C solo seat(s)  All remarked the C&C seat feels as firm as their Corbin.  I went with C&C as I like the "look" better than the Corbin.  Both seem to be great seats.

I have had very good luck dealing with C&C on what I wanted with my seats, I have them on each bike.  It suks to hear how 05Train was treated.  1st time I've heard of Chuck not doing what was right!

I've got both for the 09 SERG and love both. The Corbin is a dual tourer leather with custom sticthing and the C&C is a custom gator for show. I WOULD not consider either if I could not try one for a ride. Stopped by Corbin in Daytona and put one one the bike and rode it for 100 miles or so. Then had them to make the adjustments and ordered one. got it in 2 weeks and it works great. Had a friend that had a C&C and he let me ride it> It worked fine.
