Lawn Mowers
« on: May 11, 2014, 07:23:08 PM »

While I was mowing the lawn today, a nice sunny day, seeing bikes going past, made me think - who the hell got the idea of cutting grass and who invented lawn mowers?  I could use the lawn cutting time to ride my bike.  I could use the lawn mower gas in my bike, and the purchase price of my mower, More Chrome & Horsepower!  I think my lawn will turn into a "natural" feature soon and support the wildlife so I can join ya all more on the road.   ;D

Best approach I've come up with is fake grass.  They sell a product at Lowes that looks pretty good, and I keep telling the wife I'm going to spend her half of our joint savings to install this stuff.  And then she gives me "the look", and I go out and fire up the mower, and the trip to Lowes gets put off one more time.

The secret is to get a mower big enough to get the job done fast. I bought a 50" zero turn 15 years ago and I can mow my yard (about 3/4 acre) in a 1/2 hour.

I got me one of those 50" zero turn mowers, cuts the grass at 4+ mph and holds 4 gals of gas. Takes about 15 mins to cut the average size lawn. My yard (I have over 2 acres of grass) takes about an hour and a half to do.
Don't mind cutting the lawn any more.

Just do what I did... Buy 8 acres of native WOODS with a house in the middle and only a little bit of grass to mow! Takes me only 45 mins to mow it, never more than once a week, and often less frequently even during the growing season. The woods require absolutely no maintenance at all, they keep the riff-raff away, and I'm never out of fallen branches and logs to use in the fire pit!

We have a little over 2 acres of grass. A couple of years ago I convinced my wife that if she cut the grass she could get a couple of hours of sunbathing in while sitting on the rider.

Seemed to work and now I not only don't cut grass but I get to sit and watch a bikini clad babe bounce around my yard.

Got to much grass, bout 21 acres. What the horses don't eat, the 72" Kubota does. And far the heavy stuff, got a 50hp Kubota with a 7' Hog.

Hmmm...I do like the bouncing babe suggestion the best. I wonder if any of my ex-wenches would fall for that.
