There are much better options than what HD offers as "kits", and then there is always the part about dealing with questionable technicians at any given HD dealership.  And regardless of what your dealer tells you, your warranty is chit with anyone else but them, and even then it would be highly questionable if a big problem occurs. And I guarantee you they will not put any of it in writing, as Don mentioned above.

Big HP numbers are fun if you are in the habit of winding the motor up to the 6,000 RPM range a lot.  Big Torque numbers are a lot more fun, especially in the 2500 to 4500 RPM range, where 90% of typical riding happens. There are several ways of getting where you want to be, and the $$$$ amounts will vary as much as the variety of combinations.

In all probability, by the time all is said and done, you will have as much or more in modifying the 110 as you would in just buying a complete motor like an S&S, or even the HD 120R, which, with just a minor tweak or two would probably get you the same end result. Then you can shelve the 110, or sell it and recoup some of the expense.  And probably have a more reliable package in the process.  Plus, if you ever want to sell the bike, you can stick the stock motor and parts back in and get true book value.

Either way, if you do more than pipes and a good tune, your warranty is not worth the paper it's written on...even then, it can be suspect if the MOCO decides to be a hard ass.  Technically, ANY modification to the engine and drive train CAN void the warranty, but they are much less likely to take action with just pipes and a tune.

There are several people on here who are much more knowledgeable with regards to S&S options available in crate engines, or tweaks to the HD 120R.

We'll I guess the stage 3 kit isn't the wow factor I'm looking for.  I want something that's going to rip the front tire off the ground. Maybe the 120r is the way to roll. Get that one tweeked and shelf the 110. My only question is will the drive train be able to hold up to a 120r

If you don't really want to go the 120r route but want your 110 to scream, contact Steve at GMR. I know it would be a longer trip for you than it was for me but it would be worth it! Not only did he make my bike fly, he also addressed known reliability issues to head off (possible) problems down the road. I'm absolutely thrilled with my build and I highly recommend Steve! A little too much throttle in 1st or 2nd and the front tire comes up, and I'm a 300# guy on an 900+# Ultra! I can't imagine what a breakout would do.

I am thrilled!!  :2vrolijk_21:  :2vrolijk_21:

The bike's a rocket! Like I said, it'll pull the front tire in 1st and 2nd if I'm a little heavy on the throttle. Oil temp stays below 230 when cruising and hasn't exceeded 260 when stuck in traffic with near 90o ambient, and I'm getting 41 mpg when cruising and about 36 mpg when I'm playing. I don't know what else I could ask for. Steve's the man!!

Also is there issues with the factory lifters in the 110. Some people have said to change them. Others have said they will be fine.

GMR Performance is in Keller, TX (just north of Ft Worth). Steve's contact info is at http://www.gmrperformance.com/contact-us/ You should give Steve a call and talk with him. He'll tailor your build to meet your expectations.

Mjk039 I did a lot of research on what to do with my 110 and finally came to a conclusion that the best bang for your bucks is to do the 124 s&s ,comes with warranty and if you still want more ,you can start building it up just like your 110    :2vrolijk_21: try INDEPENDENT_1 on this site for a quote

I agree on the dealer BS its about the info that is in print. If you can get your dealer to give you the warranty in writing then go for it. But there is way more going on behind the scenes than anyone would every think. Each time the dealer hooks your bike to there digital tech they have your cal and vin that goes back to HD. It flags that bike right then that you are using racing only products. And yes warranty's do get voided.

Even buying all same Street legal parts outside of a street legal "kit" will void warranty. Just delt with that on a HD transfer to extended. All over a air cleaner.. Customer is left out in cold.  Engine warranty was voided nothing that can be done now.

For the S&S crate engine I would suggest the Low compression 585 version in stock color( there is a waiting list though). Great running set up  :2vrolijk_21:

I appreciate all of this info. It makes things a lot easier when u hear good results from others that had similar work done. I guess the harley warranty really is a big smoke screen. Not really going to worry about it anymore. Was thinking if it was harley it would be warranty but obviously not the case. Going to do what make the end result I'm looking for and if it breaks I'll fix it. At least i will have what I'm looking for.

Done right, you'll be better off, and more than likely it will be reliable & hold up.
