I couldn't agree more! I wish this statement was in every tuning forum.
Bob

Those that know-know and are many, those that will admit to the fact are not as many due to many reasons, but hey, it's all good, we have access to the best HD tuning device's in the world and some of the most knowledgeable tuners around that don't mind helping fellow riders no matter their tuning device brand, happy days people.

I mean no disrespect here, you guys buy the most expensive Harleys made, the top of the Harley heap so to speak, why settle for a second rate tune? Don't you want your pride and joy to be the best it can be?

But it's not tuned for your exact build. Pipes yes. Injectors, compression it is not. Canned maps don't work period.  I would suggest at least running some street tuning sessions.

But I do totally agree with Hilly.  Some of you guys have $30,000 $40,000 wrapped up in these things.  Getting the bike tuned to run its best and most efficient. Isn't where I'd try and save $500

How true this is Jason.....keep fighting the good fight..... :2vrolijk_21:

A bit of a late chime-in from Perth Western Australia

I have 2 CVO's , a 2008 CVO springer and a 2013 CVO Breakout

2008 Springer has a TTS dongle , "fitted up" by me , I have used TTS since 2008 on other bikes. I have reccomended TTS to ALL of my riding buddies , as I have been well happy with the results obtained using it. I also do the majority of their tuning for them using my laptop(s). My 2008 CVO Springer runs well

2013 CVO Breakout came to me as a 4000 K's used bike ( 2,500 miles ) and already had an "1800 pro-upgrade kit" installed from brand new at the HD dealer , including an SEPST "Super tuner" dongle. The HD dealer had used a stage 1 cal for 255 cams , and the bike had 259E cams and high comp' pistons etc etc. Bike was a flat as a pancake compared to my Springer CVO. There was no calibration in the SEPST tune file for 259 cams and pistons on a 2013 CVO breakout !

So I had to learn the SEPST routine , having been a TTS long term convert ( not "expert" haha but my mates think I am !)

I find TTS easier to use than SEPST , as a private operator in my home garage.

Also one of my mates had dramas with his 2011 streetglide when he had a 120R motor installed and Mastertune TTS came to his rescue ( via me ) when Steve Cole ( Of TTS !) helped out immensely. We could not have had that help from SEPST in any way or form AS THERE IS NO WAY TO CONTACT ANYONE FOR DIRECT PERSONAL SERVICE AND HELP.

In short I would use TTS all the way , and would have it on my own CVO Breakout had the money already not been spent on an SEPST tuner dongle.

For what it's worth , a reputable indy tuner in  the eastern states of Australia emailed me a cal from a 2013 CVO Breakout with " 1800 pro-upgrade" kit that he had TUNED WITH A SUPERTUNER and now the Beakout flies indeed

I agree...TTS is great, after all is it not just the old H-D tuner before they went a different direction?...most people on the forum like the Fullsac tune...my question is for those who like Fullsac, is that tune set up exactly for your bike, and would you start there and then have it dyno tuned?
what would be the horsepower/torque improvement for the dollar invested?

Short answer: no
BUT, it's so close that most people don't bother to try to get the other .01%!!
IIRC his Stage 1 combo will yield about a 10% improvement.
This is also verified by my personal bikes on the same dyno, same day.
Best bang for the buck most of us have found.
JMHO, as usual.

There would be a bit more than .01% to be gained by having the tune fine tuned, not to mention all the other parts of the cal that will benefit from being dailed in to your engine, I'm not most people though and that is just my opinion  ;D

Gonna go with the recommended TTS module, my tuner should have all the cable-s for my 2 bike correct. Any need for me to buy them? 06 flhrsi and 2014 FXSBSE

Yeah, you are correct.....just a "typo" on my part. :nixweiss:
Should read: "anywhere from 0-20%" probably be more valid!
I DO know that IME with a few late model bikes we see an average 10% (+-3%) difference in HP/TQ on the 96 and 103 bikes.
I don't have any experience first hand on the 110, but I would guess the same.
Not having my own dyno I have to rely on one person to do the back to back tests.
Bottom line: again JMHO, some of us are satisfied with the over-all manners of our rides and PROBABLY leaving some gains on the table. That is ok with myself, but, again I have friends who will always search for that last HP.
It's all interesting stuff when it's too hot to ride today! 8)

If he tunes with TTS, he most likely does......can you give him a call to just confirm?
I have my own set of cables for MY bike, just in case I have to reload MTE somewhere on the road.

I have had the SERT on three bikes and had some issues with two of the three. It really came down to one dealer not being able to use the tool well. When I took the bikes to another dealer he use the HD tuner and the issues were solved. On this last bike I am going to use the TTS with the Fullsac pipe system because this guy doing the tuning prefers that tuner and so does the pipe manufacture. I hope I am pleased. The new tuner does work at a HD dealer but does have contact with the TTS developer.(Hello Steve) ;)

My only real contribution to the thread is to say i would never try and force a certain tuner on a shop because you love it. if they do not or are not acquainted with it things could go bad. And I would add that there are times to save money and then there are times to spend it wisely.

One other thing being over-looked somewhat is what all the product in question is capable of doing. This limits the tuner no matter who he is. I am glad to say there is no other product on the market today that has all the features supplied in the Mastertune product and when you need to use a feature and it's not there, there's not a whole lot, you or the tuner can do about it.

See you are in Winchester VA. Are you having Grove Harley tune it? If so I hope they have gotten better since I had my bike tuned their.
