Buying S&S LC 124
« on: July 20, 2014, 09:57:21 AM »

2008 CVO Ultra 48,000 miles
One of the rear lifter failed, cracked the case and I have metal shaving in the motor.
I was looking at buying S&S LC 124, found good price and 1 year warranty. For a touring bike should I consider the S&S 111?
Engine has a 6 week lead time... was going to do the install myself. Need some clarification on a few things.

1: What clutch upgrades? (That will work with the Harley hyd clutch).
2: Do I need to address the belt?
3: Screamin Eagle 58 mm throttle body and 5.3 injectors?
4: When installing motor what are some pointers on lining up the motor, (have manual).
5: Missing anything?
Any advice greatly appreciated.

I hope you have a service manual for your bike if not get one it will answer many of your questions. Or maybe PM a few of our builders here that are Vendor/Members.

Sorry I missed that. Some of the motor builders should chime in soon, hang in there.

I beleive they have a 2 year warranty and unlimited miles. "My recipe" uses the T 124, Baker Street Door, Baker HD Throwout bearing, Baker Attitude adjuster and Evolution Industries clutch and pretty much bullet proofs everything and all made in USA companies that stand behind their products.

Looking at prices around $1,100, also will this work with cvo hyd lever?
Baker attiude chain adjustment or the Hayden M6BT07. Baker cost $200 and the Hayden $120 ?

I had a Bandit Machine clutch on my S&S 124 and had no problems installing the motor last winter. The new motor was easier to install than it was to pull the 110. also used HPI for the throttle body and 5.3 injectors.I use a TTS for a tuner and the bike dyno had it at 129/129.It put a smile on face every time i twisted the throttle.I also just got rear ended last thurs.and probably totaled the bike.

For a touring rig I'll take a square motor, shorter stroke (= 111") anyday. More than enough power to haul 2 people and their gear. Belt and clutch will be fine.

Just want to make sure before i pull the trigger in the morning... Asked S&S they said the 124 is reliable just don't lug the motor.. How would the 111 compare to a decked out 110? Lets say a Tman setup... I not chasing Hp here, but don't want to spend that amount of money and get smoked by 107,110, I will be riding to up and riding all over the US, Was going with the 111 but changed my mind after talking to the S&S Tech...I'm one of those guys that know just enough to get ass in trouble... LOL Trying to ask as many question as I can...Thanks for any suggestion...

I complete the 111 install on Sat.  Engine out of the crate EX was the SS power dual head pipe with SS touring mufflers . IT had a FLAT tq curve and made 119 TQ HP was higher than I thought it would go. 123 HP Intake was SE with a HPI 55 MM t/b. I still feel the 111 for all out touring is a winner.

I read one of your earlyer post where a 111 dynoed at 110 hp and 119,120 tq, what was the difference between the two builds? I would be okay with 119tq and 123hp or there abouts. I have D&D fatcats 2-1.
Thanks,

Stock t/b vs a 55 HPI. As well one bike had a 2-1 suppertrapp vs the S&S complete  true dual ex system.  The other had a stock 5 speed this bike had a Baker OD6. Both bikes where run in 1:1 ratio .
