S&S LC 124 question
« on: July 22, 2014, 05:23:28 PM »

Hi All,
I have a 2010 Ultra that I'm considering putting a S&S LC 124 in.
The question I have is  concerning SE cases versus S&S cases.
I think I read that S&S is now building the 124 engine for 2007 up Harley's.
If this is true I would expect to get a S&S 124 with S&S cases.
I got a quote from a dealer for a 124 and was told it would have SE cases.

I'm just curious why they would choose SE cases over S&S cases.

ALL new S&S engines require you to Rent the jig drill the case and route oil lines outside the trans to the engine to work. The older 124 engines where in fact built on SE cases that is no longer the case.

Exactly, the S&S motor are no longer available with SE cases. We have the tool/jig needed (you can rent from us) and we can supply you the oil line kit as well.

Not true. S&S is still building the 124 with the SE cases.

I stand corrected. You can still get it in a SE case.  In my opinion way better option. Not a fan of the drilling and hose set up. I get the "why" I just feel the stock HD oiling set up is super clean and functions without issue.

Well, according to my S&S rep, they aren't. Where is your source of information pertaining to this?

I just called my Rep.. Yes you can ORDER a engine with SE cases for now.. In the past ,..I was told it was only the new T2 case by S&S. I never bothered to confirm that with my Rep my fault.  :(

I received mine today. I had s&s on the phone last week and they told me it was available. My buddy owns a shop and he's a dealer and got mine in less than a week. I got lucky.

It was a little more than the t2 cases but now I don't have to drill and tap anything.

That sucks. I was wrong about the less than a week. It was less than 9 days. I got lucky I guess. When I ordered it my buddy called me the next day and told me that they were finishing up on one with the screaming eagle cases and it's mine if I wanted the SE cases. I thought you couldn't get SE cases. I called and talked to the s&s tech about the cases. There are 2 part numbers. One for the SE cases and one for the t2 cases. At first I was told 5 week lead time. I ordered it on the 10th and it was shipped out 18th

My Baker attitude adjuster.

Bandit machine is also USA made and have a sweet setup for CVO clutch's.

The problem with doing away with the comp is twisting the smaller splines.  This doesn't necessary show up when checking run out on the pinion.

I would also recommend the HPI 55/58.  It will accept any stock replacement AC and you won't pigeon hole yourself.

I understand it's too late for this but.... I also like the 111 for a touring build. I thought it was 10.7 with 585?

I sent a text to my rep and he hasn't replied. I have a motor here with T2 cases and when I ordered, I was told there were no more SE case motors available but I also told them what the bike was that the motor was going in (2009 SG). I just called S&S earlier and was given this information:

2006 and later Dyna and 2007 and later Softail SE cases are still available.

The motor I will be installing soon has the T2 cases and was told that for all FL models T2 cases only and no more SE cased motors will be built using SE cases for and FL models.

We've used the Bandits and are a Bandit dealer here too and they are nice but to the best of my knowledge, they're made to run in the stock clutch housing/shell and Ive seen several of those break. I got a new catalog from them not long ago but I havent thumbed through it yet. Do they offer complete clutch setups with stronger shells and ring gears?
