Yes sir!

Stopped at a dealer yesterday in Rochester, NY for a poker chip and it is one of those multi brand dealers. They had a black one sitting there so I inquired about the price. $27k, I asked about the TS and he said no, had the manual ones on that bike. Just seems crazy that it isn't standard on a bike like that.

We took a trip to Maggie Valley and back this weekend on the Wing.

A couple thoughts on the Wing.

1)    We got 40 mpg going to the Valley, 42 coming back. The 01 and 03 get about the same, the 11.5 and 12 two up usually do the same ride at 45 to and 47 coming back.
2)    The Wing pulled/climbed Black Mountain no different from the Harley's.
3)    Like the 01 and 03 the Wing feels like it needs a sixth gear.
4)    The Wing seems to have more storage capacity than the Harley's.
5)    People on Harley's don't wave back as much when your on a Wing as when your on a Harley.
6)    The Wing motor seems almost turbine like in the sounds it makes. I guess when the exhaust doesn't make sound it's easier to hear the motor.
7 )   We prerode two rides scheduled for the MV GTG. On the curvy roads the Wing seemed to handle as good as the Harley's. Although being new to the bike I didn't push it hard.
8 )   Dave was right. Even for a 5'9" guy the Wing needs more leg room. I need to change the highway pegs to feel more comfortable.
9)    We rode 550 miles and not a tick, a cough or burp from the motor.
10)  Having a reverse is the greatest thing about a Wing.
11)  The seat on a Wing is huge. Until I get the highway pegs in the right place on the Wing the seat on the Harley's (all of them) are more comfortable.
12)  The weather this weekend was perfect and it reflected the time it took to clean up the Wing when we got home. Clean the three bugs off the windshield (three bugs in 550 miles,WHOHOO) and use Royal Blue Detail Spray to wipe the bike down and 30 minutes later I was done. The Harley's take at least an hour to 90 minutes to clean after a ride.
13)  Did I mention how damn nice it is to have a reverse?
14)  Nothing can replace the thrill of riding the Harley's but based on money invested the Wing is a hell of a deal.
15)  Plus, the Wing is blue.

The fun has just begun. I researched Wings a bunch, joined a Wing forum, have learned a lot about them. This weekend we rolled over the first thousand miles on the Wing. Sometimes you pay your money then take your chances. For a bike (even though it's blue) that can go as quickly as it came I'm thinking the Wing has a home here. If only the Stelvio wasn't so tall.

Chip, you forgot to mention the Wing uses regular gas, just saying!

Dang it Richard, that was a tough one for me.
I got my first Harley in 77 and have ALWAYS used premium.
So the first tank Friday was premium, the second tank plus and the last tank as we filled up 2 miles from the house was regular.
I put premium in there by habit but I'm learning.

Was it the F6B without the trunk? They kinda stripped those down if it was. No reverse either IIRC. Two different levels so maybe the upper level unit has the reverse.

This one was a full blown wing. They had an F6B sitting next to it though.

That's kinda odd then with no TS. Maybe they discontinued it as my 96 has cancelling TS. Wonder if it was something they did after mfg went back to Japan. I dunno.

Sounds like you're having fun Chip. Enjoy!

Ditto and yepper you have but it never gets old. Just wondering if you're gonna put the blue Wing in with your bike slideshow. I for one wouldn't mind seeing it cycle through. Did I mention I have blue saddlebags off of a 2012 Wing. Awhile ago I was thinking of buying an older blue wing and going the F6B route. Would allow me to keep the reverse and anything else they pulled off the Wing to make the F6B. We'll see how that goes someday as I need to check out the leg room. Maybe a Corbin seat would allow more room.

We spent the weekend at Eagles Nest in Maggie Valley.
Finally got the chance to put some highway miles on the Wing.
It will never take the place of the Harley's but it is a good option.

I like the Wing but this is a CVO website and to stay true to that I will leave it out.
This thread is as much as I will discuss the Wing. Someone ask me a question I will answer but my Wing discussion stays here.
I find it a shame that the F6B has been stripped down so much. My SERGC has all the safety features as my 11.5 SEUC.
Why Honda chose to leave safety features off is puzzling.

Is the wing just as enjoyable as an HD for scooting around town? I have never rode one.
The HD vs Goldwing is like discussions on politics or religion...you are not going to change many peoples minds therefore accomplish anything but it is good to hear all the different opinions.

Not for the first 5 or 6 hundred miles it wasn't. I think mostly the discomfort was me getting use to pegs instead of floorboards. Plus the pegs were a soft rubber that held your foot from moving around. Riding at first I couldn't get comfortable going to the peg. It felt awkward not being on a floorboard. By the time I was headed home it was starting to feel a little more natural. After riding Electra Glides for 26 years pegs do feel a little strange.
Around town was no different than being on the Harley's. At least until I needed reverse. I'm telling you, reverse on a bike is the best thing ever.

"...the best thing ever." Thats what I say about my cvo convertible cruise control. My convertible is not as heavy as a touring model especially without the bags and rear seat/sissy bar...therefore reverse is not an issue for me.
Maybe I will try a wing someday...just not ready yet.

At least we agree.
I'm not sure if I'm ready yet either.
