A friend just bought a Victory
« on: August 17, 2014, 08:43:50 AM »

$18,000 and a 5 year warranty made his decision.

He will pick it up on Wednesday. He hasn't ridden for many many years so I will be riding it home for him.

He is going to take a riding class BEFORE riding it!

I test drove a Victory cross country Friday evening. It was nice and ok but had a terrible vibration that I could feel in the seat and the wife could feel in her back through the back rest. She loved the extra room for her and the large bags.

The look is still something I am not sure of but the cross country is definitely better looking and more versatile than the Vision.
I was not sold on it like the commercial says but I wasn't totally turned off either.

the 5 year warranty is not bumper to bumper.  victory offers a standard 1 year warranty, but they are giving (as a sales incentive) an additional 4 year powertrain warranty with a $50 deductible.

I am hopefully that the warranty will help push the MoCo in the same direction, highly doubtful but I like to dream.

A little too much Arlen Ness influence for my taste, but they are nice bikes.

Talked with a guy on one after riding through a number of stop lights one night not too long ago with "applied for plates" on it. Cracked me up as at first, every time I got close he gassed it, showing me he had a bigger motor than a most Harleys. I was very impressed when I learned he was 81 years old! Told my wife I hope that is me. Riding a new bike, at night and clearly enjoying the performance of it.

I wonder how many lifter failures and compensator failures this will cover.

My 2011 Harley has had one compensator replaced so far and it needs to be replaced again. Plus, I fortunately decided to change cams before my lifter exploded.

Makes me question my decision to buy a Harley every time I ride it.

My next new motorcycle will not be a Harley. Regardless of looks.

I looked long and hard at a Vic CCT prior to getting the 'CUSE7.  The thing rides great, it has a ton of power, the riding position is super comfortable, and there's a ton of room in the bags.  For the money it can't be beat.

The Victory has the fastest non modified V-Twin production motor I've ridden, I have plenty of friends who bought them because the refused to pay high prices for low quality (read HD).

Regarding the warranty... none of them worry too much about the coverage, out of the ten or so I know, none have ever had the bring them back!

The MoCo is way to arrogant to change, why should they?

The Vision is ugly, the cross country is more along the lines of not so good looking!
