Engine work and dyno results
« on: August 17, 2014, 05:53:17 PM »

So I just had some work done on my FLHTCUSE7.  I did it in two steps: 1) stock 110 & added race tuner and CFR exhaust and 2) cams/pistons changed as well as added 2 into 1 D&D Fat Cats exhaust.  I went to the 259 H-D cams.  There is a noticeable seat-of-the-pants acceleration through the gears.  I believe the stock 110 came with 255 cams.

So here are the Dyno results from initial through steps 1 & 2.

Stock:    HP 82.7      Torque: 102.2
Step 1:   HP 87.2      Torque: 107.1  (just added CFR exhaust and race tuner)
Step 2:   HP 104.69   Torque: 110.8   (added D&D Fat Cats and new cams/pistons)

What do you think?  Should I have expected more torque?

The '09 SERG with the SE Stage III Kit 259s / 10.5-1 Pistons / SEPST / V&H PowerDuals / RSD Tracker Slip-Ons, dynoed at 106hp / 119 tq in June (hot in FL) with 93 octane at sea level.

How much compression are you running? If 10.5 you are a little light on tq, as you have good gas in NC, and are <1k ft.

'Not real familiar with the FatCat, could it be hurting your tq #s ???

3 missing pieces if you're looking for the next level of performance:

- Headwork by a reputable shop
- 58mm throttlebody
- larger injectors 5.8 gm/sec

Probably would want to add roller rockers when getting the headwork done.

What exactly has been done to the bike besides fatcat and tune only see step 1 and above it says step 1 & 2.

Your numbers are in line for a stage 1.  Pipe, a/c and tune.

Was a leakdown or compression test taken?

Fatcat won't hurt your torque, depending on year it may show a dip at 3000 rpm area but that was said to be corrected in the later renditions of the pipe
Most of the dip can be mitigated if u have a version that does this.

Can swap and pipe and tune typically yields 110-115 torque and 95-106 hp.

If your not going over 600 lift cam you might consider keeping stock rocker arms vs the roller rockers.

24d
Headwork (Sachs)
Fatcat
Tune

Roughly 115-122 hp 116-125 torque

Several if these running around talk to Stu he has one of the combos if you want more info

Leave it alone and run it.

Having gone the alternative, more intensive and expensive route (with no regrets), I still have to agree with this recommendation.

Only thing that bothers me is that I don't see the word "lifters" in the replaced category.

Love the looks of the black pipe on your bike. :2vrolijk_21:

True, although with all the threads on lifters lately presumed it's was a given.  So put the premium S&S in there if you decide to redo the motor.

The lust for power really never ends you just have to decide when to quit dumping in the money. ;)

I presume that is the SERT that comes with the kit? I did the same mods on my CVO Fatbob and ended up worth numbers a little better than those but that may not be relevant. Ever drove throughout town and looked at all the bank thermometers and noticed they are all different? Dynos are like that and can give different numbers fort the same bike. Seat of the pants is real, enjoy.

Sorry for the delay in getting back with a little info on this.

The next set of pics are the dynos from when I started with the bike (stock) to current.  I don't have the leakage and compression test figure (yet).

On this one it is the stock engine compared to the addition of just a race tuner and CFR pipes.
