Sirius XM Very shotty
« on: September 01, 2014, 08:20:06 AM »

It's been a while, wanted to make sure it wasn't me. I've had 2014 CVO Limited now for about 3 months. The Sirius Cuts out way too often, even under wide open sunny skies sometimes. So often it's not worth using it. I had Sirius on a 2011 RG CVO which would loose signal too but nothing like this!! Anyone else experienced this or know of a solution, booster, antenna relocation?

It's a common problem on all the '14s. Most are having better results by moving the antenna from inside the fairing to the outside just behind the windshield to the right of the mail slot.

No cutting or drilling. The antenna has a small diameter wire that can be routed around the windshield and I used a small piece double-sided tape to fix it to the top of the inner fairing. It's not hard to do and a good project for those can't ride days.  :2vrolijk_21:

May want to take a look at this thread - Possible Culprit for Poor XM Reception in 2014's with SiriusXM for tips/assistance.

My wife works at a Jeep dealer....the XM rep came in to say that they were 'working on' the poor reception problem. My new Jeep cuts out, seemingly for no reason too. So do the Ford work trucks. An I-pod full of playlists beats sat radio!

The wife has Sirius in her Ford Edge, and we have never had a reception problem in our travels in Illinois, Indiana, and Michigan over the past four years.  The Edge does have a small puck style external sat antenna on the roof.  I'd suggest something similar to those who have a "hidden" version.  Often things become screwed up when people worry more about appearance than function, if you know what I mean.
