90 Degree Valve Stem
« on: September 22, 2014, 02:38:00 PM »

The 2015 Road Glide CVO is showing 90 degree valve stems on the wheels.  Has anyone seen a part number or can prior year CVO wheels use the 90 degree stems?  Like them.

I call BS.  There has to be a part number...and why would it work only on new ones?  People have backfitted new saddle bags and TPs to older models.

That's nonsensical, isn't it?  You'd think HD would be interested in selling as many as possible.  You can buy 90 degree stems online, BTW.

Any new owners with a parts manual?  Part numbers please.  I agree it's BS and I have seen some of the other 90 degree stems on-line, but these look really nice.  I think they will be in the wild soon if we can get the part numbers.

These seem to be the same stems sold on kurveygirl.com.  It even looks like the same logo on the side.  Kurveygirl has a fitment page for correct size (8.3 mm vs 11.3 mm).  A set is about $30, so who knows what the MoCo price is...

I've fitted those valve stems to several of my bikes.  KurveyGirl is one source, but there are others.  They really make airing up the tires convenient.  Worthy upgrade.

Do they just screw onto existing valve, or do you have to remove wheels and tires to install?

They are a complete new valve stem, so you have to remove the tire to install them.  Good item to have on hand for your next tire change, unless you enjoy breaking down your wheels and tires just to change valve stems.

Angled Valve Stems
« Reply #10 on: December 24, 2014, 03:46:33 PM »

Happy Holidays, I was at my local HD shop today and they have a CVO Road Glide in stock. I was surprised when I saw the angled valve stem on the front rim. The salesman said that of course the back rim has one too. I was just wondering if anyone has noticed if the other dresser models, or any other models also have the angled valve stems. I know when I get new tires I will be having them installed. Maybe this is old news, but it is the first time I noticed it. Thanx CAHDBIKER

As best I can tell from the parts catalog, the angled valve stems are only installed on the CVO Limited and CVO Road Glide.  They don't even show it on the CVO Street Glide, but that might be a mistake in the catalog. :nixweiss:

i remember reading somewhere (that part i don't remember :D) that the new angled valve stems were fitted especially for the new wheels and were not retrofittable to older wheels.

could be bs, but, maybe not.....

personally, i just use an extension hose that i made out of an old bicycle pump, the kind with the clamp fitting.  i cut the hose off, took an old valve stem that i got from the tire store, cut off a bunch of the rubber so that just the brass tube core was showing, and shoved that up the cutoff end.  covered it with some heat shrink, and then used a hose clamp to keep it secure.

now to air up my tires, all i have to do is to clamp the one end on the wheel, then apply the air chuck to the free end and air up to my hearts content.  use it to check the pressure as well.  and with the clamp, you lose very little air during applying/removal of the clamp end.

hd makes one as well, but mine was cheaper (free) and is a little longer.

WTF!  Just stick the air hose on it and put air in it! :nixweiss: :nixweiss:
