If you guy upgrade to the 05 push button fuel door release you will need to order a spring #53846-00 it is not listed in the parts book.

I upgraded my 04 with the push button fuel console door release (pn 53842-00B) with out any additional parts.  Works like a champ (easy to install) and like it better than the 05 setup because it can also be locked for security.

Although I do not want sugar in my tank, you do realize that sugar is not going to hurt anything don't you? This is an old wives tale, may or may not plug the filter/strainer, otherwise no damage. I am an adjustor for a major insurance company, this is a common claim, you just check the tank, flush it out with carb/brake/general purpose cleaner clean or replace the strainer/filter and ride on. Before anyone submitts a horror story just beware, they are ALL false. This one has been around for at least 40 years, aging myself here, but it does no damage.

Yes I understand that any key will open it, thats not what I am worried about,  Im with Gettinold it is someone that has decided that he is going to single your (or mine) bike out for damage for what ever reason.  More than likely, they will not have a reason its the casual event that the lock will help prevent against just like locking your car or keeping the windows rolled up etc.

Ordered one (and a couple other pieces) this morning at Chicago HD's website.  Sadly (for my level of observance) I'd noticed that piece in the catalog, read the description, but it still just hadn't occurred to me that it wasn't a locking door.  It's bad when you're paying attention and still don't have a clue [smiley=nixweiss.gif] .

It is the 103" engine that motivated me but I had noticed on the HD website that there is a "Chrome, push button fuel door" on the '05. I was looking forward to that (as well as 60 watts, vents, detatchable tour pak & CVO key) but have I wrongly assumed that it is both push-button & lockable?

Is this a case of enthusiasm getting in the way of reason again? What reason? How can someone look forward to getting a key? [smiley=drink.gif]

Hey Mate,

I'd made the same assumption about the fuel door.  Turns out it is puch button but not push button and lockable.  The solution, however, is inexpensive (especially by Harley standards).  You'll want part number 53842-00B for $20 US.  I think the following link will get you there.
