How is it?
« on: October 21, 2014, 05:57:30 PM »

How is it that there are bikes out there 2,3,4 years old with less than 2k miles?
WOW!

Not hard to believe at all. A lot of people don't have much time or interest in riding like some others do. Bad weather puts the brakes on too. Some of those bikes could of been in the shop for repairs ... the reasons go on and on. I've averaged a little over 1k miles a month on mine  since I got it 3 months ago ... pretty good for me between working and all the crappy/rainy weather we had this year.

Well, for a few years I would ride my bike to work, park it, get on my work bike for the next 8 hours, park that and then go home on my bike. For that time the mileage on my bike stayed pretty low.  :) :)

For some, it's more about OWNING a Harley than actually RIDING one.
For others, I suppose they THOUGHT they'd like to be a "biker", then found
out maybe "not so much"?
I have a set of golf clubs I haven't used in nearly 15 years...
...I'd rather be riding than frustrating the heck out myself chasing that darn little, white ball!
But, I still have 'em...somewhere!  :-p

I often ponder the same thing.  I guess it's the same reason that Baskin Robins offers so many flavors.

Totally disagree. Some of us are fortunate enough to have more than one bike. Some of us have families and kids that take up a lot of our free time. Some of us live in cold weather places that shortens our riding season greatly.  Some of us just don't get to ride as much as we want...

I know where mine are. The last time my step son flew home on leave he used them. And promptly left them in the back seat of the spare truck I only drive in the winter. Had to put them back in the garage. They're buried behind a couple of tool chest and spare bike parts.

OP, keep in mind there's also military members that are gone for about a year at a time.

Hell, I live on a golf course and haven't been to the driving range in about 10 years, much less gone a round.  And I have a place on a lake in the Wisconsin Northwoods, and can't remember the last time I went fishing.  But I do manage to accumulate a fair amount of riding miles!   :2vrolijk_21:

Hope that my girl doesn't end up that way.  I would think if I put 6k or so a year considering how much I have to drive my other vehicles for work would be just right.

I, too, have golf clubs I haven't used in over 15 years. My bike, however, is getting very well used. Just rolled over 24K today. Not bad for living in Iowa.  :nixweiss:
