I disagree, if you're talking about BigD2112's conclusion that the H-D 5 micron filter is automatically better than any of the aftermarket offerings. If you read and understand the report LC110 posted a link to, you would know that the 5 micron claim printed on the box from Harley is meaningless. Harley has a long history of claiming stuff that isn't true, just to fool their customers into buying their stuff rather than the same stuff at a lower price elsewhere. And don't forget all those lies they told for decades about synthetic motor oil, right up until the day they started selling SYN3. Overnight synthetic went from being the worst possible thing you could do to your Harley engine, to being the best thing since sliced bread (as long as it was the stuff they sold, that is).
Go to any big store that sells a wide variety of oil filters and look at the boxes. How many do you see that mention a micron rating? Next to none, and that would be because there is no such industry standard. It falls more under marketing claims and hype, not factual information.
