I was less than enamored with the whole faring thing that's why I bought a King what is helmet buffet? (esp with that cool windshield my 14 came with)
I have the 13 CVO Anniversary King.  That windshield works for some one under 5'8" or so.  However the buffeting is very obnoxious for some one 6'1".  That said, I like the looks so I keep that shield, and deal with the buffeting.  However other than my trip to Key West and my Trip to Apostle Islands I normally use it for 200 to 250 mile day rides in the mountain.

I have my CVO road glides for long trips.  The 15 CVO RG has almost no buffeting at all, much easier for 600 plus mile days

After having several of the batwings I bought a '13 CVO RG. It was hard to get used to the fairing not moving when turning the bars, just a head thing, but absolutely loved it. Last year bought a '14 CVO Limited and thought the ride was great, very comfortable ride. It was a year till I got to get back on the RG as I keep it in storage in Ca. It was like re kindling an old love affair........WOW!!!!! The handling difference. My wife says she gets a little more wind on the back of the RG. Can't comment on the new Rushmore versions, but have a deposit on a '15 CVO RG Ultra. I will trade the Limited. The other thing I find riding an RG after a batwing - the dash feels so far away but you get used to it.  Good luck with your decision!!!

Was considering the shark nose but bought the limited in 2014 not knowing if they were making the CVO RG. Oh well I was looking at the RGs they other day in the shop and all that space around the fairing around the forks loose like a huge cave. Overall i am very pleased to not have the RG on looks alone. I could see the handling advantage however.

FWIW, I have owned an 07 RG rode it for over 50k miles and love every mile of it. I just took my sons 07 street glide on a 500 mile trip and had me thinking of possibly getting a bat wing to replace the shark. One thing I will say is the radio is easier to hear on a batwing over a RG. Thought long and hard, drove both kinds including  limiteds, specials and ended up with a 2012 CVO RGC and now have 2 sharks sitting in my garage. When I look at them I just say to myself I sure must like the shark nose because I now have 2. I dont regret it for a minute I am glad I got the CVO Candy Cobalt instead of another red bike.
BTW the red 07 is for sale now and is as clean if not cleaner than the 12. :drink:

t if you want a bike without a radio the roadking with a good flare windshield and fork wind  deflectors you will have absolutely no wind around you and I ride with a full face helmet year round and the trucks and side winds are next to nothing. I ride with wings roadglide and bat wings and watch them all get knocked all over the road with strong side winds. This bike is by far much better all the way around than the 07 SERK Love it Billy

I do not get knocked any more over the road with a strong side wind on my last 12 CVO Road Glide than I do on my 13 CVO Road King.  Same with my new 15 CVO Road Glide ultra, moves around no more than the King.  The Road glides get less handle bar shake passing an 18 wheeler at 80 mph than the King.

Seems like a dumb question but it has nothing to do with the wind, Actually wind will effect a full face more. it is for my head just in case of a mishap.   Billy

I have owned 2 RG's (08 & 09) and 2 SG's (12 & 15).  I tend to agree that there is less buffeting with the RG, but not enough to make a difference to me when deciding on buying.  why, because you have to change the shield on all of them and you will find that you can eliminate most if not all the "bad air".  I actually like the way I can handle the SG better than the RG in the twisties. I think it is more psychological than anything.  The RG fairing just looks bigger and more awkward to me and it inhibits my ability to lean back and forth. Again, in my head. Anyway, I really loved my 09 and feel the same about my 15.  as someone else said, other than the fairing and the mount, they are the same bike.  Good luck.

Hey Billy,
Well Duh????  I apologize for the dumb question. From your post I thought you were wearing the full face for wind protection. Glad you love your road king.

Thanks  No We have always worn helmets and I just like the all around use of the  Full face. I love to ride in the wind just not knocked around and with a full face you get hit by more wind and wind noise  So with the shield and lower wind deflectors it is great. Hope I did not  insult you with the dump question remark. Thanks Billy

Really like the windshield on my 14' CVO RoadKing, and the fairing on my 15' RoadGlide Special. Way better than my '04 RoadGlide.

Shocks are the same on both and I don't mind them at all. Ride a year on the factory short air shocks and these pre-load adjustable's feel darn good to me.
