Hi the tyre is call screaming eagle se 180 model num gt 502 180 60 17 to fit stock dyna rims its just the clearence im worryed about want get rid off skinny 170 yucky under tyred dunlop

OK now I know which tire you're talking about. The GT502 is designed to fit your rim, so that part is OK. The load rating is still lower than the stock tire (75 versus 78), I never recommend going lower but that's up to you. And of course the D407 is a radial, whereas the GT502 is a bias ply.

Width 7.18"The difference in width is 0.51". If you measure the clearance to all the possible rub points using your stock tire (swing arm, belt, belt guard, fender and interior bolts, wiring, etc.) on both sides, you can then determine if you will have enough clearance with the GT502. For instance, if the closest measurement you find with the stock tire is .25" or less, the GT502 definitely won't fit without modification. And you need more than just .25". If it were me I'd want .25" minimum clearance even with the new tire, which means having .50" with the old tire.
